syncro or fork im guessing? and problems with reverse?

 

Sounds like your 1-2 assm. is getting weak, the dogs aren't locking it in gear.

 

Does it have an aftermarket shifter?If it does it sounds like you shift stop need reset.

 

I would check the shifter adjustment first. If thats not it then its going to be slider assembly and or the gear. If you need any help with it let me know I rebuild standard transmissions at home 214-458-8965 Noah

 

sometimes grinds but if im easy it goes in no problems... doesnt pop out of any other gear.. it almost seems as if one of the teeth is broken.. is that possible.. i have a trans am 6spd modded and i already like my gt much much more.. is there any way i can put that t56 in my gt..... retro kit or something.. this car would be the shit if i could...

thats what i was looking for.. im noob but only to mustangs.. im a chevy guy,,, (blue oval is the dark side.. haha) but to be honest trannys are a bit of a mystery... thats what the guy i bought the car from said.. he said he replaced the clutch and it started doing that... i figured worst case scenerio id get a tko and still have less in the car than its worth... but if i can stay with the current t5 ill be happy....

 

sean, is it just an adapter plate for a gm t56 or ??? im sure the clutch will be different from the input but im a little sketchy on the details.. ill check the link you gave me...

There is a direct replacement T56 for the Fox bodies, same spline input and output shaft.

 

Sounds like you should just get it rebuilt, if the shifter adjustment doesn't work.

 

Sounds like the fork pads on the 1-2 fork are no bueno . Its gonna have to come apart for sure .

I didn't think the GM t-56 would work on fords .. without replacing a bunch of parts .. and basically rebuilding the tranny

Good call taking it to slim .. he knows t-5's in and out ..

 

actually i read a little and talked with some people... you have to get the bell housing, trans crossmember brace and depending on the clutch cable or hydro, i think my ta is cable as is my gt.... ive already got the most expensive parts... but i think im gonna get my t5 rebuilt....
