Chambers is I believe the only person on the board that has a 6 spd in a fox body, I'm sure he'll have some informative thoughts on this. It is pretty expensive, and perhaps not worth it depending on your style of racing.

To install a t56 into a 79-93 you will need : Ford T56 transmission, crossmember relocation kit, shorter driveshaft with 31t yoke and a longer speedo cable. Kit price is $2700

I guess I am going to have to cough up the cash. This is the oinly way I am going to be able to get what I really want out of my car.

I want to be able to haul ass at the track with my 4:10 gears and still have a car that is fun to drive on the highway, and a car that will still be able to do 165. That is about as fast I will go in a fox body, since anything around 160 and the car feels like it is about to get airborn!

thats for the jank version with 10 spine input shaft. With 26spline shaft, viper forks, and 31spline output, all the goodies, its 3700 for it. Im going to buy the viper spec version, its only 3000 right now on sale, but it goes back off sale jan 1.....

The only bitch about the Viper version is the lack of a blowproof bellhousing.. I don't race mine much, so I don't generally worry about that, but you might. :)

The .5 overdrive kicks ass. 3.73s at 80mph are right under 2K rpms. :D

redGT,
When/If you do the Viper version be prepared to make your
own exhaust, especially if you run cats. I had to have my X
pipe modified inorder for it to clear the tranny and crossmember.

Blowproof bellhousing? I don't need all that crap....Ive got a 1300 dollar clutch, if it comes apart, Im pissed anyways. I knew about the housing, besides, I dont need to add an extra 50 lbs.....

Unless your racing in a class, there not kicking you out for no sfi bellhousing.....

Not gonna happen....bybotie blew his up and didnt come close to going through the floor pan. Hell, I can put some extra .035 sheet metal against the tranny tunnel....but I really dont think its needed. Like I said, Ive got a 1300$ clutch, if it breaks, I want my money back :)

No kidding about the overdrive....I'll be going over 206MPH by 7000RPM in 5th gear.....my motor spins to 8000 which by that time is over 233 MPH in 5th gear.

In 6th, at 100MPH I will be pulling 2200rpm :) I can go 130mph in 6th without ever hitting 3000rpm....
Talk about a pimp tranny setup :D

exactly what I was thinking, and I really doubt it will shred through the bellhousing either way.
if it does, sue!:D
