When is a car no longer emissions tested?

This question stems from my 86 5.0. When does the state stop doing emission testing on it? I know after 25 years emissions testing is not done. So what date does the 25 years start at? The build date on the car? Or when the car was originally purchased and registered? If it's the build date, where on the car is it located?

TIA

I think it's after 25 years, the car is eligible for antique tags. Not positive, though. check on txdot
An 86 will no longer be emissions tested starting 1/1/2011.
Cool, I tried to research on txdot, but I guess I fail with research skills.
LOL they don't test shit here, guy who does my state "inspections"....<---lol couldn't even tell you what color any of my vehicles are.
It was that way here, up until about 5 years ago.

I only know that from experience. None of the information on the DPS website is specific beyond 2-24 years old.
Lucky I live in a part of Texas where emission test are not required yet
I was a little surprised Kaufman county finally did it. Theres no major city really, I think just because it is next to Dallas county, they put it in place.
