whatever happened to UZI's?

I remember as a kid, it seemed like the cool gun at the time used in movies and seemed to be the buzz word in the news like we see the "ak47" moniker used, it was the Uzi. Seems like I never hear anything about them anymore. Were they crap? What do you like/hate about them?

just curious

I think there was one for sale in the classifieds recently IIRC.
I had one once. Didnt like it.

They are heavy as fuck and dont point or handle well. The sights are junk too.
good question? same thing with the mac10 !!! i guess they are more of a "gangster gun" then anything else?
cheap pieces of shit that spray weak lead?
My dad has one, you can't aim for shit. He does have a longer barrel, but it does nothing for the actual sights...they are really wide. It was fun to shoot around, but not good for much else.

That's right, it was a Mac10 that was on here.
When I was in Desert Storm in 1991 the Saudi National Police all had full auto uzi machine pistols for their sidearms.

I wished I could have brought one back.
I saw something about how the Feds/SS used to carry those strapped to their arms under coats around the Reagan era. This was before the MP5 subs came out ultimately replacing them.

I think you're right. Im about to display my ignorance here... They are shown in an assassination attempt vid. I forget what president it was but it was outside when he was walking to a car. One of the SS guys pulls out an uzi. Its like damn, where the hell did that come from.
youtube hunt.
God i love google.. GILG

It looks like the uzi came from the black briefcase laying in the street in the last picture. Maybe the guns are more capable than we think if the SS was carrying them. Maybe just capable of lost of rounds down range... fast.

The uzi doesn't have an extremely fast cyclic rate, they were just very reliable. Uzi recognized the weight problem and went to a lighter/smaller version with each generation, uzi, mini-uzi, micro-uzi. each time they increased in cyclic rate by about 33%
I was held at gunpoint with an Uzi stuck in my ribs. They are very intimidating.
My dad bought a new one for me (I was 13 at the time) from Oshman's at the Golden Triangle mall in 84'. Still have it and will never part with it. It is dog ass reliable but I'd prefer a M10 carbine if I had to pick a sub gun. A blow back short barreled H&K in a rifle caliber w/custom loads would be my first choice over ANY sub gun.

That was my train of thought as well
Uzi had the misfortune of being a contemporary to the HK MP-5. That's some damned tough competition. The better one won the contest.

you told us it was a 410 double barrel pistol.
