He looks like a total prick in his mug shot. I sure hope his punishment is harsh!

I would have knocked the motherfucker out.
LoL, old white man was slapping a 2 year old black kid.
I think he deserves an award.

Some of you people are too quick to make assumptions. It was likely some snotty nosed entitled little heathen, that was making life hell for anyone within earshot of them. I say shit to people with 'those kids' all the fucking time. Face it. Lots of people are shitty parents and let their kids run all over them, and everyone else they encounter. You might allow your kid to call you a bitch (I've seen it first hand), but I'll be damned if I'm going to listen to that shit.

This is the precise reason I rarely step foot in a Wal Mart.
Do that to my child and watch as I put a bullet in your head. At the very least, there would be a severe beat down.

x2

Kids are fucking terrible these days due to crappy ass parents
LOL. I think it's funny as hell myself. Especially considering the kid wasn't even hurt. Redness to the face? And that earned him a felony? Although in all reality I think it's the parent that deserved 4-5 slaps to the face.

Don't bring your screaming ass brat kids into Wal-Mart. Nobody wants to listen to that shit. I'm sick of every store and restaurant I go to full of whining kids and parents that won't do anything about it.

I'm going to have to agree on one part and respectfully disagree on the other. Totally agree that it is all too often that you see these bratty-assed little kids at Walmart or the grocery store....parents just letting them act a total fucking fool. However, disagree that it is ever appropriate for a perfect stranger to strike another persons child....regardless of how bad the kid is, that's straight grounds for getting your head busted wide open with a can of Bush's Beans. Certainly wouldn't disagree with hollering at them though....matter of fact, I've done that myself in the store before....walked past some mexican chick that was totally ignoring her kid that was screaming at the top of her lungs sitting in the basket....as I walked by I went WAAAAAAHHHH!!! right at them. The kid shut right the fuck up and the mom looked at me like I was insane....funny that she would think nothing of it coming from her kid's mouth, but I'm crazy for making such a ruckus.

I'm with you.

If a parent is trying to keep the kid quiet, I'll offer up some latitude on my disgust. But if the parents aren't doing jack shit, they are the ones that need a 61 year old man turned loose on them.

And why didn't the mother react? Some of the black women I know would have beat that old fuck with a bag of chips after hitting their kids.
dang; I would probably be pissed if someone did that to my child; but she was warned so I don't know. We always do something about it that moment if our kids act up.

Nah, I think we're on the same page. I was being a bit sarcastic when I said he deserved an award.

I've said many things to unruly children, and even worse to the parents that allow it. In fact, I blame the parents more, because they allow this behavior. I doubt I'd ever hit some strangers child. But I can certainly see where the old man was coming from. Just another reason not to fuck with old people. He was probably at the end of his rope, because he's been dealing with situations like this for the last 61 years.

Now, I'll give you, that this person was a complete stranger. But I don't see where some of you people are coming off talking about killing if they laid a hand on your child. Now, beating the shit out of the child is one thing. A simple slap to the face is entirely different, at least in my opinion.

I used to get beat by all kinds of people. Same goes for people of my parent's generation. I knew that if I stepped out of line, even if my parents weren't around, that SOMEONE was going to knock me back in to my place. And you know what? It kept me from stepping out of line. Most of the time anways. Why is it so different these days? Why were some of my friends' parents never arrested for felonies? Why was this acceptable back then, but now it's an outrage where people actually state that they'd go to such drastic lengths as to kill someone? Here's an idea. Accept some personal responsibility, that your kid is a snot nosed annoying disrespectful little bastard, and that it's all your fault. If you have a well behaved child, you will NEVER find yourself in this situation.

EDIT: I think I just figured it out. The truth hurts. And it's easier to point figures at others than it is to suck it up and blame yourself.

I *understand* what he did, but it was wrong.
Kids cry.

It happens, quite often at inopportune times. Just ask any parent, they have been there. You can't make them stop crying a lot of times, and a beating will only make it worse. Since the mother was in walmart maybe she was doing the week's shopping and it just wasn't convenient for her to leave the basket full of shit somewhere in the store and walk out. But who knows.

Anyway, this dude had no right to touch her child - NONE! No matter the reason.

If that had happened to me I would have beat the shit out of him.
Give that motherfucker a medal.

He's just doing what each of us always thinks about.
Its Mister Wilson!!!!
Ok, the report says Race: B Ethnicity: N

I lived in GA for a decent amount of time and know how to read between those lines;)

And our generation would also get an ass whoopin at school for getting out of line (I'm assuming you are in the same generation)....at my school the principal, asst. principal, coach...and we even had a science teacher that was a big ole black dude that carried around a rubber hose....he'd smack yo ass for getting ou of line.

...I think it's BS that this isn't allowed anymore.
you gots to do what yous gots to do.
The only time I have seen an instance where a child would not quit crying was due to earache, toothache, or similar. I have sympathy in those times.

I have been known to offer parents my belt, and directions to the restroom. Most of the time, the child understood exactly what was said, and shuts up immediately.

I've had more than a fair share to get extremely embarassed to have a screaming kid in my store. I tell them that noone will report them for reasonable discipline, with an ever so slight smile and nod. Releif sets in for the parent, they warn the child of the impending doom, and then take care of it.

Most people are concerned that folks will report them, so they allow the kids to run rampant in public.

I grew up in the time of getting put in my place by neighbors, freinds of my parents, or anyone who felt I was stepping out of line. Having said that, I'd say the old man handled it a little wrong.
