hydrocodone + alcohol
Vicodin
Its the generic for Vicodin... have them change your prescription. If you got hydracodone, you can vicodin instead. It has the same effect on me... none. But the Vicodin works like a charm, in fact.. it fucks me up to the point I only take it when I HAVE to...
Date rape pill?
Darvocet.
Hydrocodone + Tylenol = Vocodin/Lortab...

Percocet (oxycodone + tylenol) is a bit stronger. Ask for that instead. Oxycontin is a long acting narcotic and it is taken twice daily...not prn. And it is usually given for severe pain along with percocet for breakthrough pain. There is also PO version of hydromorphone...aka dilaudid, that is pretty stout.
Darvocet.
One of the weakest oral pain meds...I dont prescribe it as it has a very narrow therapeutic window and it works about as well as tylenol/motrin.
Morphine?
in ICU that didnt do much for me, they had to step me up to Dilaudid.

Try gettin Vicodin instead of the generic, I think you will find it works much better. I would start there before you go too radical. Just my .02
They probably werent dosing the morphine appropriately...I will give 10mg as a first dose for someone that appears to be in significant pain...the dose is 0.1-0.2mg/kg. One thing about morphine is that it causes a histamine response that can drop a persons blood pressure...not a good thing in a trauma victim.

So if you take a regular tylenol with hydrocone it makes it stronger? Or is it something that would have to be combined in a lab or whatev?
Have you been on pain meds before? You seem to have a built up tolerance. Then again, when I broke my hand and they gave me lortab, it didn't make much of a difference. Although, my hand didn't really hurt that bad in the first place.

Or he could just take 500mg tylenol with each hydrocodone tab he takes...assuming he doesnt have lortab/vicodin already. There is some synergistic effect with the two together.

Sounds about right. I use hydrocodone for back pain when it's available and it still puts me on my ass within an hour or two.

never have been on any meds. It was my first hospital visit in my life. Spent 4 weeks in there. The morphine came on fast, then faded fast and never killed the pain. Now that im home they have me on this hydrocodone and its like eating breath mints. Will have to have them change my RX.
