Tax question on Fed tax paid deduction?

Anyone got an anwer for the following:

If I owed Fed taxes for 2002 (not enough withholdings from paycheck in 2002) and paid them in 2003, do I get to write off for this year (2003) that payment against my income for this year's return?

No. Federal income & excise taxes, federal estate & gift taxes are not deductible. State and city withholding taxes are deductible along with personal property taxes, property taxes, etc.
