how about a pic?
I don't see why not. You'd obviously want to pull out the interior and other stuff that might catch fire on the other side of that metal first, and you'd also want to fabricate and install some reinforcing plates so that it won't happen again.

I just ordered reinforcement plates from this one company, this seems to be a common problem on 92-96 bmw 3 series with over 150k miles.

Know of any good welders that will come out to Millsap? :D

I don't know if it is possible for you to get it to him, but JamesB is up in Krum (I think) & he is about the best I've seen. He did an amazing job patching my cracked engne cradle. It's far better now than it ever could have been from the factory.

lol. I sent him the picture and he said eek.
to do it right you would have to pull everything off, drill out the whole panel and install a new one. Be careful of a half ass patch job unless you want to fix it again.

correct.... it can be welded back, BUT once it is welded the metal around the weld will be more brittle, and easier to break. how did it break in the first place?

it seems to be a common problem on 92-96 e36 bmws with over 150k miles. Im guessing I shifted too hard and fast?

i figured shifting fast on something that makes 170 horsepower wont do as much as damage as something that makes 900rwhp. lol guess I was wrong.
