That's it. I'm old.

I usually don't do squats because I have had 2 knee surgeries, but today I was feeling pretty good so I decided to attack the smith machine. I stretched, then did 4 sets of 135 (this smith isn't counterweighted), 3 sets of 225, then a set of 275. I put the third wheel on and was on my second rep when I felt a horrible pull in my right hammy.

This isn't fun. I'm getting too old.

hgh + anabolics... the fountain of youth! :D

I feel ya Matty, I bruised a rib and pulled a back muscle a week or so ago, and I've been hobbling around like a 40yr old man

:p
Fuck u Forrest!!!!!
You know I passed 40 a couple of years ago! :)
;) :p it was a guestimate (and a compliment apparently :D )
Smith machines are good for nothing but injuries.
Remember that knees are like any other joint, if you neglect full range of motion, and fail to balance the opposing muscles, you're going to cause undue stress leading to pain and injury.
Dont feel bad, I just hit 34 and cant do anything I thought I should be able to. I'm looking for a nice candian pharmacist myself.

I noticed that. I only use the smith on heavy flat bench days when I dont have a spotter. Works pretty well for that only I've found.

Bulgarian pharmacists are good too.

The only thing worse than benching in the Smith is squatting in it. Especially heavy.
You can't squat properly on a smith machine. With perfect squat form the bar does not travel in a straight line.

This is one of those fancy smith machines that have a slight angle to it.

I've gotten myself convinced that I didn't properly warm up/stretch. If/when I ever try it again, I'll go through the leg press, curls, and extensions before finishing up with squats.

I don't get it, you went too heavy on the wrong piece of equipment after not squatting for a long time, pulled something, and decide not to address the problem?

Quit yer bitchin'! You look damn good for a 40-something man. MOST 40+ men I know have the gut, the farmers tan, the plumbers crack, and are balding nicely. You take care of yourself and ya look great! Now chin up.... as a matter of fact, go do some chinups! LOL
