Car Leaving Illegal Street Race Involved In Fatal Crash
Driver In Serious Condition

UPDATED: 5:17 p.m. CST December 22, 2002

DALLAS -- One person is dead Sunday morning after a car was in a head-on collision with a pickup truck.

The accident happened as the car was leaving the scene of an apparent illegal street race near Alta Mesa and Hulen in Fort Worth.

Police believe the car lost control when taking a corner too fast and hit the pickup truck.

The driver of the car is in serious condition at John Peter Smith. A passenger in the car died shortly afterward.

The pickup driver was treated and released at the scene. No names have been released.

Police believe the car lost control when taking a corner too fast because the driver thought he had enough money in brake upgrades to stop his car while he was doing 130mph. Later, after interrogating the driver, he claimed that the dip shit in the truck got in the way of him and he should be shot on site.
Anyone seen strokd?

Why is the news media SO eager to link ANY accident they can to street racing. That's part of the reason it has such a horrible reputation. Those kids wrecking had no relation to the street racing. The media did the same thing a few months ago. Since the kids had been watching racing earlier, they made sure and metioned it.
