I think I have a general Idea.Metal tube with baffles. Whole in the middle of the baffles bigger than the ammo. Im wondering if I could build one my self instead of buying one.
you could, but you need some decent machining abilities, and there are equations on spacing the baffles vs. the properties of the round you're trying to silence
hmm...I am not doubting what you say because I know you know alot more about guns than I do and I trust your opinion. Do you still have the link to the video because I would love to be proved wrong on this.
Steel wool works pretty well as a baffling material in my experience. But you also have to take into account the length of the silencer you are making.
When I was a kid I had a semi auto .22 rifle and used to fool around with silencing it. I finally got it pretty quiet but realized that the sound of the bolt flying back when it fired was almost as loud at the noise from the end of the barrel.
