Running in the rain and shoe care

When I ran outside, I'd only run outside if it was just damp since I was in Iraq and could not easily buy new shoes. Also, I was concerned about feet getting wet and sore since the skin would get soft...etc.

These days I'm a treadmill bitch, and on rainy days I did treadmill when I was an outside running. (real runner)

To add on, I'm not sure what the right answer is on this one. I remember running in the rain when enlisted and shoes would get screwed when allowed to room dry.

Get seperate shoes. Something that will dry quickly like mizuno running shoes. I've always had bad experiences putting shoes in the dryer.

Don't stick your shoes in the drier. It will accelerate the breakdown of your soles.

I rotate 2 pairs of running shoes whether rain or not. If the shoes get wet or if it is the middle of summer and my shoes have a pound of sweat soaked into them I'll take the insoles out and shove crumbled up newspaper in them. Change out the newspaper after a couple of hours.

so far I haven't done any running in wet conditions, but I don't want to make any excuses for myself now that I am in a routine. What do you guys do when you run in the rain? Do you have a separate pair of shoes for wet and dry? Do you just throw them in a drier when you get home? Do you just not run that day? Given we can have weeks of wetness, that would really put a damper on my routine and I hate to lose that momentum.

Running in the rain isn't bad but be sure to dry the shoes out very well and keep them sprayed every so often with an antifungal spray. This keeps you and your shoes from getting the funk. Don't put your shoes in the dryer, just take out the wet insoles and stuff with something that draws moisture up like a shamwow towel that billy mays used to advertise or as posted above, news papers can work in a pinch.
