God dammit, not this shit again. This tool is a prime example of the neuvo-doucher FTP mentality. He doesn't know the first thing about the law in action, or any of the cases involving the amendment he's citing. He repeats them verbatim, sure, but he seems to be under the impression that it's the same as shoving a cross in Dracula's face. It doesn't magically make police disappear, and it doesn't absolve you of any responsibility under the law. Respect for law enforcement is usually rewarded by respect from law enforcement. Any exception to that is probably best handled with a cool head and a lawyer, and then only if necessary, and always at a later date.
If he would have just done what they asked he would have been on his way. When you act like a big man saying "no I wont get out, and no you cant search my car" your going to get treated like a big man. I have no pitty for this idiot. .02
There are two sides to every story and you don't even know if this guy is telling the truth.
He probably did smart off at them. Just because he is a pastor don't mean shit.

Isn't there a process the police are supposed to go through? Couldnt they have merely kept him there till they obtained a search warrant? Why did they make those rights if you are not supposed to be able to use them?
Its almost like the officers just didn't have time to go through the process. How would any of our local officers have handled that?
Why didn't he let the border patrol search his car? It's common practice for a car to be searched coming back into this country.
100 miles (or much less) from the border?

The Supreme Court historically agrees with the LEO on this one, Buckaroo Banzai.
dont get me wrong...I would of let them look in my trunk, but it does look like they get a little crazy on him in the second video?

Are you only supposed to not let them search when you have something to hide?
I think he was pushing his rights to the limit and paid the price for it but I think the officers that did that should be punished for not doing their job properly. Its kinda like the mystery shopper. You get caught not doing your job correctly, you risk getting fired. Looks like Steven Anderson was the mystery shopper.

because they have no probable cause....

vertnut, you may have illegal substances in your house. would you consent to a search if an officer walked up to your door without a warrant?

watch and pay attention to the first 20 seconds. he was driving from san diego usa to phoenix arizona usa. is it common practice do this with interstate traffic and is it common practice to bypass procedure and regulations?
i agree this guy made it harder on himself than he had to. if he just wanted to get down the road he should have opened up the trunk, let them do their search and bitch at them the whole time.
he should have just let them look in the damn car. all that taser and beating the guy up was not needed. we will probably be seeing more and more crap like this

Exactly! I give him props for standing up for himself. ...So many corrupt cops that abuse their authority ruin the system.
Just another reason why everyone hates cops.
I am shocked by how many people have no problem letting themselves be illegally searched!!

Just wow...

guy is a fucking idiot, he had a video camera on him the whole time, he has a LONG history of trying to bait officers into having to force him to do things. Watch HIS original video, and draw your own conclusions. Or see the 20 something page about this video from last year.
The guy is an idiot, but you guys seem awfully comfortable with illegal searches for people that raise a bunch of fuss about the increasing role of government in our society.
