So, been arguing with my best friend about his F350 that he just bought. Its got the 6.0, and i have been trelling him everyone i know has had nothing but problems from those engines, I myself have never owned one but have just seen other guys trucks take a shit on them or constantly in the shop. So any info would be nice, i have been trying to get him to trade it in for something else beofre the nightmare starts. Although he is one of those that thinks its all BS and that it wont happen to his truck. Thanks for the Help.....John

Two questions...what year and is it under warranty? lots of people have no issues, lots of people have lots of issues. i will say that being a diesel lots of them are severely abused causing the issues. some years are better than others and ways to keep the issues from happening as well...

Its a 2003 with no warrenty, the miles arent that high, but it was used as a work truck for a few years. Our other two friends that have them, well one of them got rid of his becasue the engine took a shit, and the other one is in the shop as we speak where it has been oin and out of for like the last two months. I know everytime i pick up a Magazine they have fix it shit on the 6.0 or things that have been recalled.

well, the 03 injectors (if it falls in the right build date) sucked, but it does have the good egr cooler, which is one of the more common issues. you can dlete the coolers as well from what i understand for a more reliable setup...work truck always worries me personally. ive seen too much shit beat on...
ok it just depends on the truck for the most part. i have had my 04' psd for the last 60k miles and it had 65k on it when i purchased it. the only problem i have had is the fuel pump went out at 120k and it was most likely do to the fact i was running wix fuel filters (a big no no). my egr valve started acting up as well but i just unplugged it and there are no drivability issues. i run amsoil and change the oil every 15k-20k and do a filter change and top off around 7k-8k. i think one of my ball joints or wheel bearings are going. it is a pretty decent truck imo. one of the main problems is the hpos (high pressure oil system) used to fire the injector. they have a commom seal problem and it costs quite a bit to have it fixed. i thought thats what was going bad on mine but luckily it was just the fuel pump. btw i drive the fuck out of my truck to.

i have an 03 f550 4x4 at my fire station. at start up, u can put it on the floor and go 5 mph, right after that it runs its ass off. nuthin like a 7.3 but we are satisfied
my brothers 04 f350 has had problems out the ass, bad injector pumps, bad egr, blown head gasket. you know the works? lol
ARP makes some good head studs for those, and it pretty much eliminates the blown head gasket problem.

yeah but to have them installed which requires a cab lift costs about 2g's
Yeah he should dump it and get a 03 7.3 turbo.
