So do the heads really make a big difference with the pi heads vs non pi. and what kind of numbers do the non pi procharged bolt on car's make on 8 psi?

If you're going to go to the trouble of swapping heads on a non-PI SOHC car, why would you NOT swap to trick-flow heads?
Yes, they do make that big of a difference.

Im not swaping heads on anything. I was just wondering really if a supercharged non PI car would be worth buying. Im looking at a procharged one and kinda wondered what it would be capable of with non pi heads.
Most of the power is in the cams and intake.

Im running a novi with pi intake and cams on my 96.

What kind of time's are you getting out of it?
Just put the Paxton on this week, getting it tuned saturday should be around 400 rwhp

Thats another thing I was wondering is if it would actually make decent power or not. Probably wouldn't do very good against a cam only ls1 though would it?
I had a 96 and at one point thought about a blower. However I soon realized that with a blower and NPI heads my shit would only be at about 300rwhp. Do the head swap.

No shit? That bad huh. I was thinking it would be close to at least 350 but I just found out it has stock manifolds too. Ouch. Its also running an fmu, thats a bad way at getting a good fuel ratio isnt it?

x2. Non-PI cars run like ass.
I had a 97 that the motor was stock on. I had a NOVI 1000 on it, made 12 psi at 6500 rpm and a safe pump gas tune made 330 rwhp(@400 crank hp). I had 4.30 gears w\ 5 speed and on street tires ran 8.12 in the 1\8th with a 1.90 60 ft. If I understand correct the pi swap will put the compression up pretty high as the non pi motors run a more compression height on the piston and a larger combustion chamber where as the pi heads have a small combustion chamber and dish style pistons. The pi's do flow a lot better than the non pi's also.

No bolt on-s?
I JUST got done reading an OLD MM&FF about PI heads on a 98 4.6 and the car bone stock picked up 52.3 horse power to the wheels with the PI heads alone. I would say that PI heads are worth the difference. And since one can find a whole PI set up for around 500.00 why wouldn't a budget minded person use the PI heads?
fuck pi get trick flows
On Horsepower TV the other day they put a non-intercooled Procharger on a non-PI 4.6L and it only made like 285rwhp and that was with longtubes and exhaust. Not sure how much boost, 6 or 8 psi I'm guessing.

I had the novi 1000, x-pipe and catback. The motor was stock other than injectors. I ran an in-tank 255lph walbro. I'd say it was a nice increase over the est 215 crank horse they were said to produce. In theory for every 1 bar or @14.8 psi or boost you can double the hp of the engine.
You can put a blower on a PI swapped 96-98GT...I did by getting thicker cometic gaskets which reduced CR by a full point. My GT made 417rwhp at 5psi.
