yea, it works with the FOIL. (x+1)(2x-7) is 2x^2 - 7x + 2x - 7 which comes out to be 2x^2-5x-7

reason why they confuse me is the extra XY in the first one and the -3 variable in the second one.. think ya could shed some light on em

well the 2x^2... I can't find anything to pull out that's common with anything in the equation, so I'd say go ahead and leave it because it's simplified as it is. The second (9x-3-2y+6xy), The answer shoudl look like this: 9x - 2y + 3(2xy - 1). The -3 in the second one you can just pull it out of the 6xy and put in a -1 which takes care of that mess. Whenever you worry about integers, just pull them out of any number in the equation and work with it like that. It should work most of the time. That first one though, there isn't a common variable or integer so it is simplified in that form. Hope this is of help to you. Any other questions, just email me sometime.
