Narrow/Skinny Fan - What to buy?

495 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  barronj
I've dropped a newer model roller motor in to my 68 Bronco, and with the mustang serpentine system, I only have 2" between the snout of the water pump & the radiator.

Is there a fan, preferrably mechanical, that's narrow enough for this?

Is there an electric fan (Taurus, mark VII) that will work?

Old body 3.8 taurus (around 92 i think) the square rear end cars
I'll just address my threads to GB... always the first to respond, never wrong.

Will I need an upgraded alternator to handle this fan?

lol...

yes, the alternator will need to be addressed. the 3g units will handle about anything you can throw at it. you will also need a stout relay for that fan, its a 70a relay that we use. there are 2 variations, a small body 70a and a large body 70a. either of these 2 will work fine. that fan pulls 60-80a on startup then levels out but keeps some of the hottest conditions ive seen cool...ill shoot you a pm with more specifics.
I'll look for it. Found one for $65, so I'll grab it.
shoot me a link, ill make sure its it. im looking for my pic...its the only taurus fan i know of that has a 3 pin connector you can unplug
the fan on a ls1 camaro is slim and pulls a good amount of air.

what about using the fans as pushers and mounting on the front side

I'll look at the radiator opening to see about that possibility; hadn't thought of that! Thanks!

Thanks again y'all.
