Just worked an accident involving a GSXR 1000 and a 18 wheeler. From what we investigated the gsxr was eastbound on I20 going around 140mph. He couldn't react in time and rear ended a 18 wheeler truck, that didnt have a load on it. The bike was in a million peices out there. The rider was dead on arrival. He along with his bike was found on the other side of I-20 50 feet from the scene. It was pretty bad.

Be smart riding out there and be careful!

that sucks... shit happens FAST at those speeds
sucks to hear but going those kind of speeds on a public road is just asking for it. when i ride i stick to the speed limit in the city and will do 70-75 MAX on a straight stretch of highway

Do you work the APD or AFD?
That sucks for the rider & his family. Be carefull riding those damn things!
These jackasses don't realize that they are pressing their luck.

I've worked too many of them, and have yet to shed a tear. I checked one on radar a couple of months ago at 150 in a 60 zone.

They think they are above the traffic laws and the laws of physics until they learn the hard way.
Of course they realize it. It's why they do it.

Nah, most of us are fully aware.. it's part of the thrill.

150/60 is unreasonable during the day in traffic though.. no doubt.
They never learn. Saw someone dead on the side of the road in Plano last night, do not know if it was a bike or someone walking along side the road that got hit. It was at 75 and Park exit north bound.

Now if that is you in your avatar and I found you smacked into something at 130mph, I might mourn the loss...:tounge-in-cheek:

I quoted this differently to make a statement.

I have found that I have worked sportbike to cruiser accidents at about a 15:1 ratio.

I have never had reason to give a ticket to a rider on a cruiser.

I've never pulled a guy off a stolen cruiser.

I've never had a cruiser run from me.

I've never seen a cruiser stunting down the freeway.

It's just that there is a portion of sportbike riders that think that nothing applies to them. They can go as fast as they want, ride down any lane or shoulder, slow up traffic so buddies can stunt, etc......

I feel for his family, but not the rider.
yeah, because nobody ever makes mistake
little off topic here but when I mod a car first thing I upgrade is brakes. of course doing 140mph is crazy since this guy was trying to make an exit from what I read.

but I've had a bike nearly rear end me in my freakin' Taurus after a little run and my car has a mild brake upgrade. yes the bike was behind me. :)

I know nothing about bikes and braking. Do most guys upgrade brakes or because of the short wheelbase is it just not going to happen when braking hard on a bike?
yeah, because nobody ever makes mistake
C'mon now. That's not just a mistake. That's epic stupidity.
