Marketing yourself without sounding like you have a huge ego...

How is this accomplished? I just had a email newsletter sent to me that had a small portion of it about me, from a major car care product company. They used words like "Master Detailer" and really pumped me up quite a bit with their verbage about my business. How can I use this to my advantage without sounding like I have a huge ego? I'd like to use this as a reference or something on my web site, and in my forum. I've really been struggling with this, and don't know crap about writing or advertising myself.

Fuck it you know you are the best. Have a huge ego you deserve it.
x2, if you are not excited about your skills, how can you expect anyone else to be?

I don't see it that way. I appreciate your confincence in me though!
Solid brag you thread deleting dick!

JK congrats that is a major accomplishment. First thing I would do is brag (like you are doing here) with a link to the the newsletter and put it out there a bit. Put a link to your website saying you were "featured" by XXX company (I'm assuming Meguiars) next to some of your results. Maybe put it next to your big jobs/pictures on your website showcasing your work.

Really, congrats that's awesome you do great work.
Don't ask Jared.

Send me the newsletter.

Excited in one's skills is different than having a huge ego. I am very excited at what I've accomplished, but I don't go around bragging it to everyone. Which is why I'm looking for some help in how to use this to my advantage without sounding "big headed"
Damnit I need to look at my diesel to see how much it would be to clean the inside.
Do you accept payment in marijuana cigarettes?

It seems like you could use phrases such as "Nick's Custom Detailing has been hailed as _______ by companies such as _______" or "Nick has been dubbed as _______ in _______ publication." You can pat your own back and build your credentials. ;)

Exactly the info I was looking for! You rule chick! :D
Company websites often have reviews or press posted on their site. I don't see the problem.
You don't want to look like a giant prick, but it's worse for business to be a giant pussy.

This.

Don't refer to yourself as XYZ, but rather cite references of what others have said about you.
When you have a major accomplishment like that...its not having a huge ego. Dont run around telling people "thats right boys, im the king, the master detailer, and no one else is". Id put it on the website and business cards saying you are considered a Master Detailer by Meguiars. Short and simple.

Agreed.

I would also highly suggest that you request (from the company who mentioned you) that you can use the quoted statement in advertising. You can also request a letter of recommendation from them and use it also. Most companies have no problems doing this for a good vendor, but quoting them in a publication or advertisement without authorization first, may damage your relationship with them.

OH, and congrats on the mastery!

Already thought of that, and have called and asked. They are discussing it with their "higher ups", and will have a decision for me soon. They don't want any kind of liability on their end for labeling me something.

Wait and see I guess...
As stated above, list the references. We were listed in D Magazines "Best of Big D 2009" recently. I've simply added that to our marketing saying "Included in Best of 2009 by D Magazine".

However you do it, congratulations Nick!
Make your slogan anything any other detailer can do I can do better!

did BK make it back to work yet?
