OK, so lets say that someone in your family has been declared incapable of owning guns of any type and has since given them to you. How would one go about registtering the said guns into your name.

I was given a S&W Model 37 snubbie Air Weight, a Hi-Point Model 995 and an old .22 long rifle. They are completely legal as of now but dont want to get into trouble down the road.

Thanks,

Kris

There is no gun registration.

They are yours. Enjoy.
There is no registration in the state of Texas. You are legal now without doing anything. If you want to feel better about it, have the previous owner sign a bill of sale even though it is not necessary.
sweet. so has anybody used either the model 37 or the 995?

I hear both are reliable home defense and the 37 a great little carry gun but anybody HERE have any experience with either?
The Hi-point would certainly be my second choice between the 2. The S&W is a great and higly reliable piece.

The high point is supposed to be a cheap and very accurate and moderately reliable gun. I am going to get a different body for it though cause the damn thing is plain ugly.

If you crappie fish......use the HiPoint to sink brush piles.
The model 37 is one of many varients of the S&W J-frame revolver. I have one of it's brothers, the model 442. The main difference is mine has no exposed hammer. It has been reliable and is probably more accurate than I am capable shooting it. Oddly it's the lowest capacity and least powerfull of my handguns but it's the one I grab the most. Any specific questions your wanting answered about the revolver?

Guns don't have body kits, fool! All hi-points are ugly as sin. Just go get your $50 worth of gift cards at the next gun buy-back. That's the only gun I support being purchased by those programs.

your highpoint doorstop joke was far better than mine...hahaha

Eat a dick "Fool". I am not a gun afficianado. Never claimed to be. As a matter of fact I asked probably the most basic question in the gun community and you answer this way?

OK, it's called a stock. I have educated myself on the term now. This is the one I will be getting soon. The gun was free, has a sentimental value due to who gave it to me and under what the circumsances are. It will put a hole in someone if they come into the house and thats about all I need it for. The Model 37 will be the CCW.

Again, eat a dick...."Fool"

Dooood chillllll its all good in da hood

Hi points get a bad rap as they are not known for reliability I would honestly sugest rethinking the use as a home protection device Hi points have been known to work least when needed most

As far as the above comment I can see where that might upset you beeing a noobie to guns and this being your gran papies sisters cousins shooting stick but remember some will give their oppinion when asked for it calling that a body kit isn't that all far off If you are a noob I would sugest either really look over the directions or have that installed as it can be a major PIA I've done one or two

Here in Austin I will be having a well known gun shop install it. Screw that headache. I'll stick to working on cars.

Also, I didn't mean to get sideways on his ass but If he has an opinion like what he offered he can start his own fucking thread. I started this one because I had a question. THEN I asked if anyone had experience shooting either of THESE two guns. This jackass didnt say he had or hadn't but starting in on somebody with "Fool" aint gonna cut it. Maybe behind a computer screen :lame:

I have heard many bad things about high point hand guns. From what I have gathered all over the net, the 995 is designed by someone else making it a much better gun than a typical High Point. Again though I came here to ask if anyone had shot either of these so those who have can give their experience. To suggest somebody go trade their guns in is bullshit.

Thanks
arlington or austin?

Either way gun shop prolly a good idea

Yeah had another designer on the carbine vs the pistols but built cheap is still built cheap I've shot the carbines and they are fine and all but don't risk your life to one Smith is a good choice for both bed table and CCW

You will like the feel of the carb in the stock pictured but before you leave make sure and have the shop relieve the mag well a bit some of the carbine mags will rub on the stock and make them 3 kinds of hell to get out Better yet find the pro-mag hi caps and use them 15rd vs 10 and big piece to grab hold of to pull it out

I'm sorry man. I was just messing with you. Good luck with it.

Not at all what I thought your response would be but I commend you for your apology. Thanks.

I do what i can.

To the OP, i'd also reconsider using the hipoint for any defense.

Maybe sell it, then use that money toward a gun with a better reputation.

Just my .02, whether or not it's worth that is up to you.

Yes,

Can I change from the maple grips on this gun? I hate how they feel in my hand and would rather a black grip.
I love the hogue grips for the S&W but Keep those maple ones around. The hogue is textured black rubber and is awesome.
