Help!

I'm having to make a presentation for work and it has to do with diversity and such. I am making it a video and need some suggestions for the music to play. I need something uplifting, but slow. I suck at matching music up with stuff. Preferably without words since the presentation has powerpoint with words the kids need to read. I don't want too many distractors. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

You didn't seriously just make a post on DFWstangs asking for help on DIVERSITY did you? haha.
Apocalyptica is diverse, no words most of the time, uplifting, and just might work for you.

The video may not seem like it could go well, but listening to the music in the background is pretty sweet.

Muffrazr has a good suggestion, you could also check out "Explosions In The Sky", specifically the song "Your Hand In Mine" is pretty good. If you've seen the movie Friday Night Lights, they're the band that did that entire music score.
I was thinking something a little less 'heavy'. Although I do like Nickelbacks, "If everyone cared" to go along with it.

Did you hear that, Leah? That was the sound of my want to help you going right out the fucking window.

lol, it has good lyrics to go with it. I like the music you suggested! I just need to have something the junior high kids will recognize.
Why give them something to recognize?

I'd rather give them something they can appreciate, but have never heard, thus sparking off the chance for some insight and exploration.

However, I'm not the teacher, rather just a lowly man who wants others to excel.

lol. Send me your email and I'll send you the file so you can see what I'm doing. Maybe that will help you see what I need.

I always am a sucker for giving females a second chance. It'll be the fucking death of me. **sigh**

Let me know how that group suicide works out for you. You'll have kids climbing on their desks trying to find something to hang themselves with.

Asshole! lol

I'm working on it, dammit. I don't do well under extreme pressure! I was only told yesterday that we needed this by Tuesday. :( Not that I have anything else going on or anything...
I'm heading there right now. I'll have to finish this tomorrow.

Muffrazr-email sent! :D

Got it. How old are your students?

I'm gonna have to do some searching. Luckily, I'm at work and it's Saturday, so you might get lucky.
Three songs I came up with on an initial search are : Paparazzi by Shugo Tokumaru (highly recommended) , Rotary Ten by R.E.M. , and That which wasn't said by Owen ( another highly recommended) .

Give those a listen. They are also just about as long as your video. I'll see what else I can come up with.
It doesn't have any lyrics but "Children" by Robert Miles could make good intro music. It's kinda dynamic and diverse.

But it might be too progressive, check it out and bring your glowsticks:smirk:
