Got my bloodwork back!

1713 Views 20 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  The Big Matt
It's been 24 months since I last had my bloodwork done. (cholestrol, thyroid, etc.)

Well 2 years ago the results were not good. My cholestrol was off the charts, my thyroid wasn't working right, my weight was a roller coaster, my sugar was borderline high (pre-diabetic). You name it, it was wrong with me.

Well, just got the call from the doctors office and everything is "excellent" by her prognosis. She said everything all the way down to my blood pressure was at the ideal level and that it doesn't get anymore perfect than this test! I'm stoked! If I could just kick nicotine, I'll be all set!

Smoking rarely is still not ideal, but better than some pack -a- day habit.

Yay!!!

Good job. It takes alot of hard work to turn things around.

I am in the middle of it right now. Got bad news from the doc a few weeks ago. So I have to lose about 50lbs and monitor everything I am eating. My tryglycerides were in the 600's!!
good job Kim!

good luck mstng86

god bless.
Good work, Kim!
Good job Kim! Lets go out and feast on bacon cheeseburgers and cheesecake to celebrate!

You can do it! It honestly doesn't take much more than the determination to not be a heart attack victim by choice some day. Now chance can never be planned but I don't insist on helping my body fail anymore than chance already has me set for.

I have a cheaters list for cholestrol intake if you'd like me to scan/attach a copy of it here for ya. It's what my doctor gave me as a general guideline when I was first diagnosed with gigantic cholestrol levels/triglycerides/blood pressure/blood sugar etc. It's not a miracle worker, just a basis for some food knowledge and what causes increases in your health risks.

Holy shit, that DOES sound fantastic! I'd be shitting like a bear for the next 2 weeks though...which makes it immediately less appealing LOL!

I am doing pretty good in my first week. Kept the calories around 2k, cholesterol down low, and carbs below 300g a day. That is a good start I think. I haven't incorporated running yet, mainly because I want to tackle my diet first. I don't want to overwhelm myself and get frustrated.

Sure scan it and post it. My bad to good cholesterol ratio was not good either.

Yeah my LDL's were crazy high and my HDL's were pure shit... I turned all that around though by using common sense for the most part. When I wasn't sure what food items led to high cholestrol intake, I referred to the chart.
Great job Kim!! I NEED to get to the doctor to get all that check out!! I haven't been in years. And since my weight has been a roller coaster in the past, I guess I've been scared to go.

However I am happy to admit that as of this morning I am down 56lbs!!!! I am still riding my bike for exercise but I have also started running on the treadmill at home. So basically I am alternating between cycling and running. I feel amazing!! Now I just need to get doctor to intervene so I can see how I'm doing internally.
Thanks everyone! I'm waiting for them to mail me the full results so that I can compare line by line to my old test. I was deeply concerned when he told me I'd be a good candidtate for heart disease and stroke. I'm no longer a high risk candidate and it feels GREAT!!!

It's hard taking what we KNOW will happen to a serious level when our taste buds usually trump our organs everytime. Since our interior health is otherwise out of site/out of mind. We allow our tongue to make many of our menu decisions and that's the beginning of the end for your health. Finding delicious foods that are GOOD for you isn't the easiest thing in the world because you're not going to find it on a fast food list.
Good for you Kim! You looked great last weekend!

Yeah, I asked Kim out on a date and she said yes. Needless to say, I tore it up later that evening.

Just kidding. I went to a little gtg at Craig and Lea's place. First public appearance for the Geofster in quite some time!
