Got a Ticket Today

This cracked me up. Coming to work this morning, I made a right turn off of Brown Trail onto Harwood and saw a police car with it's lights on so I moved over to the far right lane (3 lanes). So did he. I thought, "What the heck did I do?" This very young cop walked up and asked for my license and insurance so I gave it to him. He said he stopped me for Failure to Signal a Right Turn. He takes my information back to the squad car so I figure he's looking for Wants and Warrants or something. He brought me back a ticket to sign. He told me he was giving me a verbal warning for making a "wide turn". I was in disbelief. I was smiling and asked him if all this turning right without signalling was getting out of hand here in Bedford. He just told me it was against the law. Okay. I was wrong. But when I think of all the times I really was speeding or something, it all works out.

Crazy though, seems like he was just lookin for warrants.

I got stopped one day mid day, cause i only had my fog lights on. (wasnt even really dark yet) i got pulled over (many other vehicles had no lights on at this same time.) only to have the officer reach in, grab my headlight switch and turn my headlights on.

Told me to have a good day. I dont know what exactly he was looking for, but he did glance at my inspection and registration stickers.

Maybe he thought he saw a wrong date, and tried pulling me over just in case? :thinking:

Mind you my truck was brand new at the time. :moon:

What kind of car were you driving?

How the hell do they even read the stickers from so far away. Is it the color that really gives it away?

That answer just tells me it was a rookie cop looking for a reason to jack with someone. He needs to learn what cars to profile!!

why can't you signal? that's so annoying to not know if someone is turning or not...not to mention dangerous.

That's Bedford! I've only had 2 tickets in the past 10 years and both of them were in Bedford for not coming to a complete stop at a 4 way and failure to come to a complete stop turning right on red. For this burg, the police are revenue generators...nothing more.

Sometimes when in a turn only lane I don't signal.. Am I supposed to? I just figure since I have to turn, I shouldn't need to.

Always signal and never turn right on red from a 2 lane right only turn being in the inside lane not in the lane closest to the curb. Curbside lane can go right on red, other lane cannot and must wait for green- I got that ticket 3 months ago.

I usually do signal my intentions, especially on a freeway to change lanes. There wasn't anyone around this morning (except for the cop!) and I failed to signal. That's about it. I should have signaled, I didn't, and it will cost me. Just thought it was kind of wierd.

im glad he got ya thats crazy not using a turn signal you should be in jail

Not much worse than an old gray haired gangsta that won't use his damn turn signals!

If he was in a right turn only lane, signalling is redundant at best. I can't remember if this is a right turn only lane, though. But I almost always do, just to keep the popo's away.

I have noticed that more and more cars on the road are not signaling when turning.
