We actually just took a day trip out there 2 weeks ago. It was kind of neat, but there wasn't a whole lot to see. There are maybe 15 footprints, only 5 or 6 being very distinguishable. Its only $5 each to get in the park.

There is also a life sized dinosaur thing right before the park, but it was stupidly expensive to get in, so we bypassed.

If you want to check out Comanche Peak(the nuclear power plant) they also no longer do tours since 9/11. Glad I got to see the inside of that place when I was 17.

Check out Hammonds BBQ for the lunch buffet. WAY good stuff. Probably the best part of the trip, really.. lol
Its definitely worth the drive. I went years ago and had a blast. Just take a car you dont mind getting dirty/scratched as the animals come right up to you.
We went a few months ago, and it was fun. Only thing that sucks is it's packed on the weekends, and you get stuck in a long line of slow dumbass people. Other than that, its fun. Just don't have your windows down for the ostriches!
Yes its definitely worth it. Its even more fun with a big group of cars. Make sure you get the food because you can hand feed the animals.
A zebra tried eating my truck mirror and some horned animal attacked my bedside. & the ostriches are weeeeeiiirrrddd. i wanted to punch them.

we thought it was awesome!

This was the best part. ;)

I think you may be thinking of Dinosaur Park and not Fossil Rim.

We have been there several times. My daughter has always loved it.

I know they offer discounts for military/police/fire, so if you are one of those, you can get a discount.
If you're going to drive that far, stop at both Dinosaur Valley and Fossil Rim. Take your swim suits, depending on how old Jr is, there are some decent sized rocks to jump off, and the kids love it.

BTW, like Eric said, you HAVE to stop by Hammond's.

I must be, because we sure didn't have any animals coming up to the car. LOL

Makes me want to nomnomnom right now.

That's why I didn't want to go there. :p
Bunch of fat goat looking things. Freaking awesome to have a giraffe stick his head down to the sun roof and feed him!

Keep the windows up when you are at the ostrich area!

Let me know how it goes. I was thinking about it (fossil rim) as well.

I've been to arbuckle wilderness in OK and that was fun. I went with a group of friends and we had a blast with the ostriches. The driver rolls down the windows at random and trust me it's a rush when those evil fucks come in for food.

right past arbuckle is GWs exotic animal park which tops them all. almost 200 big cats (lions tigers ligers panthers etc). and you see them all from very close (maybe just 3-5 feet away). They also have monkeys and other small animals.

Additionally, me and my girlfriend got to play with a baby tiger! It was one of the neatest things i've done in a while. I never expected to play with a damn tiger!

I have pics on my facebook if you wanna see what goes down there
Iv wanted to take my neice and nephew to the wildlife reserve for a while but I think it costs way too much.
$23 per adult and $17 per kid

Went last year and stayed over night at the Lodge. Worth the drive.

you dick!! after a 2hr drive to glen rose, and then 3.5hrs drive through that park you have the balls to send ME of all people to a place that doesnt serve beer?? WTF?? i had considered you a friend!!!!

man, i aint sure if my son was more excited to see all those animals, or to sit on my lap and "drive" the truck for 3.5hrs.

god bless.
Damn it took 3.5 hrs to drive through the park? Fuck that. When I took my kids it only took 1.5 hours. But I did go in the middle of the week when they first open in the morning.
I took the girls to the wildlife drive through thing last month and they loved it. All kinds of animals and they do come to the car and we had a giraffe's head IN our car!

My friends own the sports bar on the main road. "On The Rocks". They have EVERYTHING you can think of to eat and its great food. You have to stop by there as well.
Take dog chow next time and you don't have to buy their damn food... cool place...
I'm drving down here shortly to check it out, hope to get some good pics. I haven't been in a really long time.

If you get stuck behind some piddle-poke DO NOT feed the rams by hand. My Husband was feeding one and had to reach back in to get more food, but before he could the asshole thought it'd be an awesome idea to ram the door of the car! That thing is lucky his horns aren't mounted on a wall in my house.
