Finalizing the Engine / Tranny Build

So I am getting into some of the final stages of the engine build. Here is my previous thread...

http://www.dfwstangs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=394461

Basically, I bought a .060" over block, then decided after much scrutiny that it is already bored out too far over. I kept thinking what the best thing to do was, had offers on the engine here and there, and then kept thinking "Well, if the 289 and 302 are basically the same block, let's stroke that sumbeeitch out!"

I looked for a while for a 331 kit, but I read a few times that 331 in the 289 block definitely requires notching, which is a route I didn't want to take. I got a good deal on a 302 rotating assembly that is .030" over already (from the forums here of course), so that I can use the block without machining anymore out of it (It only has about 250 miles since it was taken .030" over.)

We pulled the engine and tranny out...

I got a transmission from the forums here too. Only 1 problem with the T5 - http://www.dfwstangs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=396486 - the dirty SOB scammed me out of the shifter... Oh well.

I picked up a full air compressor set with everything I need, now I am stripping and sanding down the car, getting ready to paint it myself. (for now)

After some recommendations on the first thread, I am going to take the engine over to John Deer at City Motor Supply this weekend for balancing and assembly. I am going to purchase one of their cams, which is the only thing left for right now besides figuring out what Flywheel I need. I am still not 100% sure, and google has shown mixed results.

So here are the figures -

Engine
Original stock 289 bored .030"
DSS Racing Forged Pistons and Forged I-Beam Rods
Stock 302 crank
CMS Hydraulic Cam (this weekend)
GT40 heads

Transmission
Rebuilt T5 with oversized thrust bearing
Steeda Tri-ax (need to purchase still)

SOOOO...

Does anyone have an idea of what flywheel is needed to connect the dots? I am pretty sure I can use the stock harmonic balancer, but if not I know that CMS has a few of those for sale as well.

Thanks for stopping by!

If the crank has the 2MAE on it, you need a standard 50oz. flywheel. End of story.. Otherwise you will shake the hell out of that motor till it dies.
The stock 289 block had a 50oz 157 tooth flywheel correct?

No, 289's were 28oz. You will need a late model 50oz. flywheel.
And balancer . Don't get a stock one either . With the heads you have you will be able to spin it pretty good so get a decent one .
