Should I hit the weights every day or every other day? I thought you were supposed to rest a day in between but I am not sure.

you want to give your body at elast 48 hours to recover.

That is , if you do bench press on monday, wait at least until wednesday to hit it again.... and know that you are more than likely overtraining that bodypart.

I think the general rule has been to wait a week between bodyparts.

Some people do an entire body workout 3 days a week though and I am not sure what the deal is there. I'd say overtraining and not letting the body rebuild enough between workouts, but it appears to do good for some people out there. Possibly their bodies are recovering much faster, and possibly they are not lifting with as much intensity as some. I dont know.

Every other day in my opinion... Gives your body time for your muscles to rest...

Think about it this way...

You max out and your muscles stretch and retract... Well if you do it everyday... all your muscles will do is that. If you give them time to rest they will gain mass. there for more muscle... At lease i was taught that way... Correct me if im wrong

Yeah. I dont do legs. I dont have great leg equipment and I've had back issues in the past so I dont' like squats and dead lifts beacuse of the back. I have a mediocre at best leg extension and leg curl attachment , but they get a little work on cardio days. And the funny thing is that they are usually sore for days following the cardio. I ride bicycles with my boy some on other days also, so I figured for now that would do for them.

I've heard that not working the legs will limit gains in the upper body though. anyone have any thoughts on that?
