Can anyone tell me how to replace my outside door handle on the drivers side,also is this a common thing with older mustangs?

take off the door handle, disconnect the rod that connects to the handle. drill out the rivets that secure the handle in place. put new handle on and either get nuts and bolts to hold it, or if you have a pop rivet gun and some rivets, rivet back on. oh, and connect the little rod to that handle.

If you use bolts and nuts, get some nylon locknuts for the backside.

better to screw.. good luck finding the mother of all rivet guns.

Two tips:

Either use an air rivet gun and get your rivets from ford, or use screws. I am yet to find a hand rivet gun that will do 1/4" rivets.

1979-86 Mustangs had metal door handles that are a LOT more durable than the 87-93 plastic. Get yourself a pair of these and forget about broken door handles.

very common, have broken every door handle on my mustangs except the 98.
