The better solution would be to take it off, gut it out, and weld it back in. I know on gas cars, even when emissions aren't tested, if it came stock with a cat, the cat has to be in place or it will fail 'visual' inspection.
A friend has a 1995 F-350 with the 7.3 powerstroke. Lately he has been getting really bad mileage and I suggested taking the cat off.
Since it is diesel, I was surprised there was even one on there to begin with. Are they required on a 1995 truck?
If he cuts it off, will he get any grief come inspection time?
I'm sure that's probably the case, but I don't think cats were widely used on diesels in 95??I know on gas cars, even when emissions aren't tested, if it came stock with a cat, the cat has to be in place or it will fail 'visual' inspection.
I'm not worried about inspection... that's not an issue. It's finding someone that will cut this POS useless converter off!LOL the guy that does my state inspections couldn't even tell you what color my cars are. Slap the sticker on and go.
I know this... and I've told that to a couple different muffler shops. But everyone refuses to remove the cat off this 1995 F-350 diesel dually.Doesn't have to have resonator or cat to pass inspection, diesel's are a safety only inspection
Any muffler shop will do it, its not illegal.I'm not worried about inspection... that's not an issue. It's finding someone that will cut this POS useless converter off!![]()
Really? I tried three this weekend and they all said the same thing. Maybe you wanna go with me? LOLAny muffler shop will do it, its not illegal.
Not true. State law says if it came with a piece of emissions equipment (cat, EGR, PCV, etc), it has to be in place and functioning, whether it gets tested or not.Doesn't have to have resonator or cat to pass inspection, diesel's are a safety only inspection
Plano. Driving to GP would not be an issue.Where do you live?
I don't think it matters on a diesel. Not true. State law says if it came with a piece of emissions equipment (cat, EGR, PCV, etc), it has to be in place and functioning, whether it gets tested or not.
