Current electric rates?

Just curious what the current electric rates are these days. I'm at 13.4, and have no contract. Going to be shopping around within the next few days, and curious what a "good deal" is these days.

Stream just released their new rates today.

Pricing for One-Year Fixed Rate Plan

Pricing Effective 8/24/09 Oncor Service Area (you are in)
500 kWh 13.1¢
1,000 kWh 10.9¢
2,000 kWh 10.7¢
2,500+ kWh 10.7¢
90% of people fall in the 1000kWh and up buckets.
Nick, I'm with Cirro, and they're at 9.6 for 12 months. My bill fell 35% from TXU. I have 2900 ft. w/10 & 11 ft. ceilings and we keep it at 76 constantly. My July bill was $214. I was/am shocked.

Is that graduated? In other words, do you pay $.13 for the first 500 then less as you go up? If so that's what I was paying TXU with no contract.

Is there a customer service charge monthly? that's a great rate.

everyone should shop their rates/offers at powertochoose.org.

Look for a contract, no monthly charge (don't pay to be a customer....you are already earning them money why pay another $5 a month to them?), and a solid company. If anyone has questions feel free to pm me even if it's not for Stream.

No that is not...depending on what "bucket" you fall into is the rate you will receive. We don't do the graduated rates.
i'm locked in at 10 cents with startex versus my 14 with reliant last year.

So do you have to be over 12,000 kwh for the year or just break 1,000 kwh sometimes? I only break 1,000 kwh like 2 months of the year and probably average 850 or so.

As it is I get an employee rate at work but don't plan on working here forever..

It's been about 1 1/2 years since I've been on our electric side but from what I remember it depends on your average monthly usage for your usage / 12 like you said, but that being said your 500 kWh bucket would be 0 - 749.9 kWh usage so just under 9k per year. so 750 - 1499 would be the 1,000 kWh bucket.

Not bad, better then the current employee rate I'm on.
.115 here on a two year deal that is soon to run out.

For my area (oncor delivery) i'm seeing rates around .097 for a year contract. Two year contracts are around .12.

Shit, IDK what I was thinking, I average about 1,500 kwh a month.. I break 2,000 about 2 times a year. Total brain fart. I just came across my usage history from Oncor.

Yeah I was thinking it was way to low. Most houses average at least 1200 a month. Gas heat during the winter maybe drops a bit but summer with elec A/C and you use a ton of kWh. We had a few over 3k this summer. :sadwavey:

Yeah, my low in the winter has been right at 1,000 my high just barely breaks 2,000. My actual average over the last 12 months is 1,626
11.2 for the next 2 years with Direct Energy. Cheapest we have had in the last 3 years. Used to pay 16.4 so I imagine we will have a good savings compared to before.
9.9 w/ Ambit for 6 months.
