My buddy who works at a local shop put a flywheel in a 02 gt. He put everything back together and tried to start it up. When he tried to start it all it did was click, so he figued the battery was dead and he put in a new one. Tried to start again and got the same thing. He then put the car back on the lift aand noticed that the top starter bolt had snapped and the block had a crack going all the way up. Has anyone heard of this happening? or know what would cause this?

Sounds like the starter was way to close to the flywheel. Could have been the wrong flywheel.
