Broncos suspend Marshall for conduct detrimental to team
Associated Press

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall, openly unhappy with the Denver Broncos, was suspended by the team Friday for unspecified "detrimental" conduct. The club not say in its statement how long the suspension would last.

Career Statistics
Receptions: 226
Yards: 2,899
Touchdowns: 15
Marshall has asked for a new contract or trade and has acknowledged he hasn't learned new coach Josh McDaniels' playbook. He was held out of last Sunday's preseason game at Seattle.

During Wednesday's warmups, Marshall walked while the rest of the team ran. He punted a ball away instead of handing it to a ball boy and swatted a pass thrown to him. His actions were caught on video and broadcast by KMGH-TV.

Marshall told ESPN on Thursday night he wasn't trying to force a trade through insubordination but that frustration got the best of him.

Marshall, who had 206 receptions the past two seasons, is also upset with what he feels was the team's misdiagnosis of a hip injury that required offseason surgery. He pulled a hamstring during the first weekend of training camp and didn't return until a week ago.

The receiver apparently was held out of practice Thursday as punishment for the churlish display, but McDaniels wouldn't discuss it afterward.

"I'm not going into it," the coach said. "If they're not ready or able, they're not out here."

Marshall's agent, Kennard McGuire, didn't immediately return a phone call Friday. McGuire was out of the country until Monday.

McDaniels said Marshall didn't play against the Seahawks because he wasn't prepared to take the field.

Marshall also missed the team's preseason opener against San Francisco two weeks ago because he was on trial in Atlanta, where he was acquitted of a misdemeanor battery charge. Prosecutors had accused him of beating his then-girlfriend.

Marshall hoped the acquittal would give him leverage for a new deal in Denver or elsewhere. He was angered when a member of the team's public relations staff told his teammates not to rejoice over the verdict.

That's when Marshall began spending more time between drills with the scout team and the defensive unit instead of his fellow offensive players.

Marshall is a fucking badass, and I'd love to have him here, but that's a can of worms that likely doesn't need to be opened considering last season.

I wouldn't hate Jerry for it though, if he brought him in.
Ha, there are three glaring issues with this situation.

First he wants more money, and he just had surgery on his hip.
Second, he doesn't even want to be in Denver
Third, he couldn't make a preseason game because of a court appearance.

I would say any one or all three issues is enough to just cut his ass.
I don't want him here. I like our current receivers.

and who would that be? seriously....

id love to see marshall play for dallas i think he could do alot more good for dallas then bad
We have a complicated playbook and Marshall would not develop any chemistry with Romo until halfway through the season. And the dude is too much of a headcase to want to put up with anyway. He's acting like a fucking child in training camp and it's why he was suspended.

i definetly agree with you that marshall is actin like a child it seems like he is willing to do just about anything just to get out of denver.

of course they wouldnt have chemistry right away but that would grow overtime and until then i believe his talent on the field alone could get him by.

I agree with the child thing, but there are also factors nobody else is taking in to account.

He knows this year is going to be terrible. He's not stupid. His options are fucking Kyle Orton and Chris Simms for crying out loud. I'd be slightly irritated too. Take that in to account, along with the whole coaching change, and he has no fucking idea what his future holds.
sounds like he is a T.O. clone...a cancer to a team.

You're right, but he's still getting paid so he needs to go out and do his job.

I don't think he's a cancer. I just think he's a clown. But, that's just my little ol opinion.

I agree completely, but you know how these NFL players are. Few and far between will actually go out there and play regardless of the circumstances around him. Ware and Polamalu are about the only ones I can think of, that would do it without hesitation.

well spokin!

hell i wish shanahan would come coach dallas and let wade handle the defense i bet dallas would have marshall then :D <--- i know keep dreaming but its possible!

a very talented clown at that

btw didnt fitzgerald take a pay cut just to try and keep boldin and breaston? thats a team player right there
Shanahan would be an interesting coach for next season. FWIW, I think Wade is a great defensive coordinator. He just doesn't translate into a good head coach.

He doesn't have the ability to light a fire under anyone's ass.

I think regardless of what happens this season, Wade is gone next year. I wish the Coach's union would allow him to take a demotion. If we could keep him as D-Coord, and get Cowher as HC, that'd be a pretty sweet setup.

Regardless of what everyone else thinks, I believe Jerry has taken a step back from the GM thing, behind the scenes. You'd all be surprised how much Stephen has taken over, and Stephen would/will make a GREAT GM one day. I think Cowher is a strong possibility, if he decides to come back, and he's said he's considering it after this season is over. You know Jerry would throw how much ever money it takes to get him here, too.
getting rid of TO for the reasons they did and brining in a guy like Marshall doesn't make much since, but I didn't think they should have gotten rid of TO. Looking at our options at WR, hell, go get him. The way I see it, we don't have anything to lose.

Steeler land would be in an uproar if that happened. Cowher is my personal choice of who I think should take over. Of course, we could always promote within.....Dave Campo anyone?
I would take AB form the Cards before I took that ninja...:ninja:

That would be the real way to go. Not a trouble maker, and a receiving machine. Amazing athlete. However, I don't foresee that Cards letting him go. They've already said "HELL NO" to trading him. They'll re-up his contract when it's up, and he'll get Larry Fitzgerald money and be happy. Boldin isn't going anywhere, I don't think.
