Does anyone have a datacenter with a big pipe to the internet that would be willing to lease out a rack really cheap?

We are again getting close to maxing out the 1.1MB connection. I can go to a 1.5M but I would rather move the servers to another location and get on something like a 6mb or better line.

If I am unable to increase the bandwidth before it saturates, the site will become very slow. To fix this, I will need to remove all non-essential services, meaning no more hosting directory, turn off avatars and sigs, etc. I know this would suck, but I dont know what else to do.

I am working on others deals to try to secure a connection outside the board, but wanted to see if anyone on here could maybe help.

Thanks
Chris

You can already turn those off in your user cp.

I say turn off the 'attach file' function. While it's useful, most of us can host images elsewhere and not burn up this sites bandwidth for it. It seems like it's essentially running a whole other hosting directory, but more of a one time use.

chris, do you allow external linking from the hosting directories?

Yes, he turned that off for a while though, and the board ran pretty quick. Although it runs good now imho.

There currently are not any problems with speed I think, but it won't be long before there might be.

You can link externally to the hosting directory. I tried to block it but there were issues. I will try blocking that again as the first step if we start running into trouble.

If youy are linking externally, please try to limit doing so.

Here is the usage from yesterday for only DFWstangs.net http traffic. This doesn't include any email services or any other websites.

I wish I could get you in at my place. We have two DS3's (18Meg each) that would hold traffic nicely. You should be able to find something relatively cheap as the telecom sector is scrambling for customers. I also don't think that limiting the bandwith intensive portions of the site is a bad idea.
