Lets say you had two of the exact same heads. One head was made in aluminum and the other in iron. They were the same castings and flowed the same amount of air. Which would make more power? Aluminum or iron? Or would it be the same?

I am posting this over an argument.

assuming detonation wasn't a factor, iron would make more power as it doesn't pull as much heat out of the chamber as aluminum...

that's why there's the old rule of thumb that you can run ~1 point more static compression with an aluminum head... it draws heat from the chamber...

heat = power, but it also often = detonation on cheap gas.

Forrest is right, aluminum has more potential but you have to adjust the tune to take advantage of it.
