I like to drive by them sideways, they might learn then.
Bicycles are considered vehicles in the state of TX and have all the same rights as cars, and also should be obeying the same laws (staying to the right as the slower traffic). Just give us a little room and its all good.
Fair enough i just wanted to ask that question. Im always courteous to them but i saw a guy ridin on the exit ramp off 287 sat I was like WTF.Bicycles are considered vehicles in the state of TX and have all the same rights as cars, and also should be obeying the same laws (staying to the right as the slower traffic). And, for those idiots saying they want to "mow a few down", I have been known to carry my pistol while riding and will not hesitate to use it in self defense.
But then again, any "rush hour" riding I do is never on busy streets... mostly because I know there are some assholes out there (ie. Franks) that really will do something fucking stupid.
Yeah, I am with you on that. I have almost been killed the couple of times I have been on semi-busy streets. I usually wait until later in the evening or go to White Rock after work. Luckily, Frisco is pretty cyclist friendly.

Well, OK, yeah....that's pretty dangerous. Was he a full on cyclist (helmet, jersey, etc.) or some idiot that had a death wish? Sounds like the latter.
i understand that they are considered "vehicles" but why do guys ride on roads where the speed limit is 40 plus and they are doing.....maybe 20?
Because we can. No seriously, where else are we going to ride? Dallas is the least cycling friendly city in the country statistically. There are no places to ride for the most part other than the streets, and no bike lanes. So, we ride on the streets where we are legally allowed to do so and pray for some consideration.
And yeah, we may be going 1/2 as fast on our bike, but I sometimes want to yell at the people honking at me and challenge them to ride 20mph in 15 mph winds and 104 degree temps
I do understand your frustration though, I used to be the guy yelling at them until I started riding. When I ride, I try and stay as far out of the way as possible. I do have a couple riding buddies that aren't so considerate though, and I let them know they're the reason people want to "mow us down".
i live damn near on white rock(winsted apts) so i deal with them every day. yea most guys stay to the right but some ride the middle or even left side of the road. and when you pass them they give you an ugly look. i ride a motorcycle so i know it's crazy out there. it bugs me more cause of how dangerous it is for you guys, not cause it slows me up for a few seconds.Yeah, I am with you on that. It's called a sidewalk and is meant for walking.but why if there is a side walk you still want to ride in the street?:crackhead:
Not to mention the fact that there's no way I'm riding an expensive set of wheels on some of the sidewalks around here. That would be equivalent to taking your _______ with lightweight aluminum track wheels or 24's and running it on some offroad trails.a normal road bike is not that great at hopping curbs. especially at speed.
It's just as dangerous for cars for you to ride on the street. I can't tell you how many times I've been coming around a corner at 55 ( the speed limit) just to find a pack of these ass hats blocking my way, forcing me to slam on breaks or swerve immediatly to my left and cut off or hit whoever is in the left lane. I've come around a corner on my motorcycle at 60 and found 20 riders directly in front of me on a 2 lane total road, I had to swerve into the other lane and came within a fraction of a second of a head on collision with a big rig. I wouldn't have made it through that I'm certain. Do I mind risking my life so you can excersise or play? You bet I do fuck off and get the fuck off the road or ride the speed limitYou know there are those that commute on bike, it makes it hard to get to work on a bike trail. A lot of riders will do 50-100 miles, there aren't any bike trails for those kinds of distances.
I ride on the right but I'm not going to ride in the gutter where all the broken glass, trash ect ends up. Plus riding that far over on narrow roads you get assholes that will fly past you, if you stay in he lane a little it forces drivers to slow down and pass when there is room... It's great when some jackass can't take an extra 5 seconds out of their life to pass you safely, and you end up getting clipped by a mirror or worse...
