99 Cobra won't start

420 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  jnobles06
99 Cobra 12K miles. Not driven often enough. Engine turning over well. Does not fire. Tried to reset fuel pump shutoff switch in trunk. Does not press in. Checked fuel pump 20 amp fuse was ok. Last time it was ran was two weeks ago. Was fine. Sounds like no gas. Engine does not fire at all. I put in Heet thinking there is water in the tank. Added two and a half gallons of fresh premium gas. Nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

unplug the crankshaft position sensor (pass lower of timing cover) and plug back in. the connectors are kinda shotty sometimes...
Have you checked to see if your geting spark to the plugs
Took off the crank position pickup and it looked good inside. Reconnected and still no fire. I have not checked the plugs. Should you be able to hear the fuel pump run before you crank the engine? I don't hear anything.

Checked all fuses, such as ignition fuse?
#4 and 5 fuses are relays that would have to be checked by someome smarter than I am.

Thanks for your advice!

Everyone needs some sarcasm when your having a bad day.:frown:
Wild shot in the dark, but the plugs could be fouled if you washed down the engine bay recently and the car just sat with water in the plug valleys.
Washed the car but not the engine. Dry as the Texas summer. Suspect fuel pump problem. Thanks for your suggestions.

spray some starting fluid in the intake pipe or tb to verify that.
