69 block in 351w has more nickle content.
That makes it stronger
That makes it stronger
Close, you are thinking of 69 and 70 blocks which had a 9.480" deck height while later blocks had a 9.500" deck height.I think the '69 era 351W blocks had a 9.2" deck height instead of 9.5"
I've been messing around with the '95 era 351's with the roller lifter bores.
Short deck thru 70 , high nickel thru 74 . The only down side is the 2 pc rear main . When you get your kit make sure the crank will work in your block . Some stroker cranks are set up for 2 pc rear main and have a ridge that will need to be machined off if used in a later (79 up) 1 pc rear main block . Its nice to have an early strong block but with the power any 351 block can handle you will be fine . If you are going that crazy just get one of the new Ford Boss 351 blocks they just reliesed .Close, you are thinking of 69 and 70 blocks which had a 9.480" deck height while later blocks had a 9.500" deck height.
They do make a 9.2" deck FMS block.
Always fun when you find out after the fact . Been there , done that .Excellent point about the rear main.
Their all stronger than a 302 production block, most 351w's never have block problems no matter what year. Brooks bent 8 rods in his roller block, I bought it and am using it on a blown alcohol motor for the last 3 years.Im loking to build a 351w looking to see if year of the block has different specs and what years to look for then?
