02 gt questions?

211 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jnobles06
I am looking at buying this 02 GT and I had a few questions, I usually only deal with old school so I do not know much about the mod motor

They guy put gears in the car so the speed o is off. How is that correct?

Car has low mileage so it is possible to put a switch on the car to turn the speed o off?

Anything i should keep my eye out for?

Thanks

You can either fix the speedo with a speedcal or a tuner. Either one can make the adjustment for gears. You just need to know which gears were installed.

I'm 99.9% sure by then they were already using the aluminum crossover intakes, so you're good there. Other than that, it's a pretty solid car until you start modding it. If it's a standard, I'd see how the clutch feels, listen for synchros to whine, etc.

on my 98gt i would just pull the fuse for the instrument cluster to keep the miles low on long trips. the only thing that sucks about that is all the other gauges quit working also. execpt for one i cant remember if it was the temp or the oil pressure. so i suppose you can wire a switch to that fuse. i ran out of gas once because i had the fuse out on a long trip and i forgot to momentairly stick it back in to check the fuel gauge. i'm not sure it works that way on the new edge body style since they switched to digital odometer.
