I usually keep my trigger finger pretty light though, and do the whole suprised when it fires thing, so I don't think I would put enough pressure on the trigger after it fired to pull it back as double action.
Yeah, and Jim (I believe that was his name) the owner of the .500 mag, said pulling the trigger too lightly causes it to double fire, and I had a very light pull on that gun when I was firing it.

If I was gripping that thing any tighter i think I would have damaged it, haha. I think it was too tight, probably should have let it climb more. I think that's really the best way to shoot it.

Chili I didn't think I was a complete noob around guns, but maybe I am. What causes a revolver to do that??
07-13-2009 06:14 PM
CJ Yeah to group me in with that guy would be insulting. I had a damn good hold on that gun and it still double fired.

I'm just happy that I got to fire off some shots; what's the point on having ammo if you don't use it?

To explain for everyone else, my friend, the land owner has one of these:

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...07&isFirearm=Y

and he hand loads rounds at the high end of the loading tables.

I asked him if he would let CJ shoot it because CJ is a large fellow and I know what that gun did to me (it rocked me at 220 lbs). It gave me momentary blindness so I must have missed it, hehehe. But seriously though, it was manageable because of it's size. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but it was certainly the biggest bang I've ever felt in my hand. The snub nose 500 mag's must be absolutely ludicrous though.

I think at one point there was $1mil in guns in the bed of teh truck.

The other .50 owner didn't even come this year.

We have a guy that likes to buy 5tons or Duece and a halfs and restore them. He usually drives one down each year, but he didn't come down either.

Not sure the reason for the light turnout, but it was.

I was drinking a 12oz G2 to every 2 16oz bottles of water. I'm not sure why I felt like shit. It might have been a lack of caffeine. I didn't take any sodas.

Eyes and ears are a must. I've got some hearing loss from small arms fire from Desert Storm. I don't want it to get any worse.

Weekend at the river

Met some of my old buds down at the river this weekend for some July 4th celebration and shooting.

We went down Friday, and planned on staying until Sunday afternoon, but the friggin heat got to me. Even drinking water and Gatorade en masse, I still got dehydrated and had a hell of a headache.

We still go to shoot about 400 clay pigeons with 20 and 12 gauge, ARs, AK, .45 ACP, .44 Rem Magnum, .357 Magnum, .22 LR Sig Mosquito, etc.......

Patrick tagged along and CJ and Adolfo showed up Saturday.

It was still a good time, even if the landowner didn't bring the Ramo .50 BMG "Ma Duece".
