Thats how I do it... I use alcohol 120% to mount my images on a virtual drive, so they play like you put an actual DVD in.

Advantage of an iso is it is an exact copy, so you have all the special features etc.

8mpg dvd shrink works but there are many other ways. Id just rip it to an .iso file and play it with VLC media player...but thats me.

copying movies

how do you copy dvd's on your computer, can you use windows media player....if not whats a free one i can download. i know the newer dvds are protected, but i have older one that are not.
