BP Pull out the hard drive, put it in a good machine and do a virus scan as well as a spyware scan. If that doesn't fix it then it's possibly a hardware problem.

Marris sounds like a virus

Can she press F8 during the bootup screen and get the option of Lask Known Good Configuration, if so try that.

Help with computer

ok its my friends computer... and she didn't give me much info... here goes
when she turns on her computer it will go to the Windows xp logo (the black screen that starts up after a few seconds) and it will just get stuck there.. nothing more... she says she cannot turn it off and the only way to is unplug it from the wall...
i asked her what was the last thing she did and she said she thinks it was an email she opened that said (lol its funny) some get rich thing that basically ask her to fill out out some info (like a survey) and then that's when it messed up... she wasn't sure it was exactly that but that was the last thing she remembered
