A Zombie Series???

Fuckin Badass!!!

Looks like it's got some heavy-hitting Direction and Production skills behind it.

...I wonder how many twisted story lines you can come up with when you throw a handful of zombies in the mix.

The whole zombie thing is basically the epitome of terror for me. That being said, i'll probably end up watching it, and then losing sleep over it.

Looks good so far. AMC does a fantastic job with Mad men, even though I never watch the show.

I am going to give this one a shot.

I am not judging the show. I am going into it asking what new twist could possibly make it original and unique.

What twist do you need. It's got zombies.

What's the plot? ZOMBIES!
What does the main character do? KILL ZOMBIES!
Who is his main love interest? ZOMBIES!

It's the perfect show. I predict it wins all 70 emmy awards in its first season.

Zombies are impossible. If their lungs dont absorb oxygen then their bodies could not produce adenosine triphosphate, a necessary catalyst for muscle contraction.

First off: YESSSS!! FINALLY!! A series with zombies in it. I will be watching every night with popcorn and baited breath.

To the comments of "I have seen this before" and "How can they twist it any differently"..

Yes..it is the plot from 28 days later. Bicycle courier gets hit by car in London pre-"rage" infection...wakes up..hospital abandoned and London is in ruins.

But this is different as that whole thing lasted about 2 hours and just involved them trying to get out of town to a safe zone. This will be that...up until they realize Atlanta is a death trap and then it becomes a "find my family" then probably "lets find a cure to this, or organize some huge army and eradicate the living dead"

They have so many ways to make this into a huge awesome series...and its on AMC...so it will hopefully get good support from cheapskates like me who really don't want to pay for subscriptions like HBO...etc

Hell yeah, in Texas a living dead army would last about 10 minutes. With the rednecks, cholos, and homies running around with their heaters, no zombie would be safe.

Almost there!

I'm current in the comic, and it is F'n amazing. I'm most curious about how fast they're going to move, because there is a lot of territory to cover.

6 episodes for this first little season and I just wonder where it'll be by that point in the story line that I probably can't talk about because I don't want to spoil y'all.

Can't wait!

Right off the bat, there's some zombie behavior I'm not super-thrilled about. Zombies shouldn't bother bending over to pick up a teddy bear. Nor should they have enough going on upstairs to remember a house and try the door knob. Minor gripes, but I would think Kirkman/Darabond would know better. Not a deal breaker in the least, but hopefully it won't be something that will persistently annoy me.

Ah, while technically correct, we did "hear" him in this episode.

I still can't wait to see where they go with things. The major stuff was all there, but there were certainly some changes from the book, most of which were perfectly cool by me. I particularly liked the gunshot-in-a-tank stun effect. That was pretty cool.

Oh yeah, one more thing: for those keeping score; we got halfway through issue #2 in the first episode, so using a rough estimate, 1 hour of TV show = 1 issue of book. They're gonna string it out though, because a lot of the next-episode stuff (roof top survivors) isn't in the book.

AMC is on fire w/ their original programming. This looks like another winner, and the preview they showed for the upcoming Killer looked really good too.

Every directors or writers have their different theory's or beliefs how zombies should act. Maybe they believe the zombie might have some memory to them. Maybe the last place they were at when they turn in to a zombie cause that is where that mother turn into one at that house. That or she knows there are two people in there that she wants to eat. But other then that I think they have done a good job just on the first episode.

Yeah, I know that, but after reading 76 issues of the comic, I'm saying that this first episode is inconsistent with the source material. Not saying it's the end of the world, just that it bugged me.

Damn really didn't know there were comic books that go with this show. I'm not a comic book reader at all.

In the Romero version of Dawn of the Dead the zombies had similar behavior so I wouldn't say TWD is any different. In the original one of the main characters gets infected and leads all the other zombies to the secret hide out the survivors had setup inside the mall.

One thing I found odd is how they attacked and devoured the horse. Don't think I've seen that in another zombie movie.

Awesome show...had me watching very closely. A couple of things irritated me a little. All the guns on his back were obvious prop guns, as the barrels were all sealed. Also, at the beginning when they are setting up the road block, he tells a deputy to check his safety....on a glock. He then presses the slide release like it's the safety and it made a *click* noise. They need a better firearms technician/expert. Just some minors things...overall this show kicks ass so far.

One thing I found odd is how they attacked and devoured the horse. Don't think I've seen that in another zombie movie.

So that was him talking to him in the tank? Gotcha.
Yup, that was Glen. In the comic, it' just him by himself running to the city for supplies. Apparently there's a whole group in the TV show though. The horse thing is in the comic. At a certain point Rick comes up on a zombie eating a deer in the woods too.

They need better a better firearms technician. Just some minors things...overall this show kicks ass so far.
Funny, I didn't notice any of that stuff, but I'm no firearms technician either, lol.

Is there any place on the net to see the comic books? I found them used on Alibris but I don't want to order them until I read some of them.

I thought the show was pretty good. I like the character development and the script. I'll be shocked if this isn't a big hit for AMC.

There are torrents that I am told are easy to find, but I'm computer stupid, so I don't know anything about that. Not being coy, just honest.

They say they'll deviate from the main story some, but that they'll always come back to it and let it be the frame work for the story line. If that's true, this is set to be the most fucked up shit to ever hit regular cable TV. (in a good way) As far as character development, I would say this is one of the richest stories I've ever experienced in that regard. Sure, everybody has a touch of apocalypse survivor hysteria, but after that wears off, it's about surviving despite the efforts of the other survivors. Really, the big threat isn't so much the zombies, it's whoever is left alive and what they're willing to do to stay alive.

Here's one of my favorite covers featuring what I think is my favorite character...
