yeah i like it, but its cool now cause u can reserve your movies from home. The only thing that sucks is that it takes a while for new releases to show up

Blockbuster is pretty much going down eventually. They are too late in the game to recover, at least at a store retail level. They may survive in a netflix business model one day, but store fronts are all going to be gone one day. Plus they is strapped for cash!!!

There used to be 5 or 6 in Irving. Now there is one. That's for BB. There was only one Hollywood, and it's been gone for several years now.

Yeah, I saw the BB machine in Tom Thumb yesterday. I laughed on my way out the door. Day late and a dollar short, IMO.

Yup. Pretty much the same here in EP. It was like from 1 day to the next a BB was closed down. I personally don't care cause I haven't rented from a video store in years.

I actually have personal experience with their treasury group. One of them actually went nuts on the phone, no exaggeration, started stuttering and having a mental breakdown. Their office is right next to my building downtown so I could see it from my window. the ambulance came and took her.

BB has too much debt to recover, it will be a miracle if they don't declare bankruptcy.

Exactly. And if the fees didn't piss you off, the rental fee sure did.

New releases with Tax out the door were $5.72 when I was a patron of BlockBuster. Then the late fee hit and it went to like 8 or 9 bucks.

Or, I could rent from redbox (which now I rent from exclusively as there are 3 within .5 miles of my house) and oops, forgot to take it back...oh well now its a $2 rental.

I tried family video because their rentals are like $2.72 or something, but if you are late ONE day, they nail you and it goes to like a $5 or $6 rental.

Screw em, redbox is my lover.

I see a bailout. What will people in the hood do without video rental? Obama can't have his people shutting off their TV's and paying attention!

BB has an exclusive with a few of the big film houses that they get the new releases for 30 days prior to everyone else.

Rumor is the others are trying out game rentals through the kiosks as well, not going as well as they had imagined.

Only two negative things about RedBox:

1st. Movies that are scratched and won't play.
2nd. Don't go to one when there's a thunderstorm. I had to go to 5 different kiosks, to return a movie in Irving, because 4 of them had locked up.

No Bluray, no care. Although, the Red Box movie dropper-offer people have told me that it's coming within the next few months, and will probably be $2/day. I'm sure I'd use it then.

I think the future will be Streaming content directly to your TV, kinda like what Netflix does now.

Why go to a store or a Kiosk when you can browse on your TV, pick the movie you want, and be watching it in seconds? No worries about "scratched" discs, or them not having the movie you want.

Samsung already offers direct Netflix streaming to some of their tv line.. it won't be long before others jump ship and head that way as well.

We stream from Netflix through our PS3, which is sweet. The only downside is that the selection is much more limited than what you can get on dvd..

Oh, and TV's already have that too.. PPV.

This.

It happened to me twice out of the three times I have rented through them. It's very annoying when you have the movie and popcorn ready for your 5 year old daughter and it won't play.

Redbox? No bluray no care.

Netflix?? I've tried it but BB online is faster as there is a DVD center in my city so it gets to my house faster.

Streaming movies has come a long ways but it's still has a lot farther to go. There are no new releases on streaming for netflix or BB for that matter.

Redbox is nice, they dont have BluRays in Texas yet, which blows. But its still cheap and nice!

Better than waiting on netflix movies by mail. Just depends when you go to the Redbox, cause sometimes all the new good ones are gone.

I've been on the bb by mail program pretty much since it started. $19 bucks for unlimited mail / store exchanges with a free game rental once a month is a great deal for me, since I watch a ton of movies.

I'm sure the bb stores will continue to dissappear, but if bb can get it so I can download whatever their store selection was, I wont miss the stores at all.

It was $1.50/day for blu-ray at the one in Austin. It only carried about 10 titles.

all of y'all are doing things wrong. I pay $18 per month and get unlimited rentals through blockbuster. I get them in the mail from my queue and can just exchange in the store. No late fees EVER. I get every new release every Tues. Redbox can't do that. y'all just don't know the system lol.

redbox is a good idea for the average joe.

i used it a few times but with a well seeded torrent i can have a 720p bluray rip downloaded faster than i can get dressed and get to redbox and back.
