"Love Hurts" by Nan Vernon that was on the Halloween II Rob Zombie soundtrack. Her version is wicked.

An old song by Nazareth.

It's hard to come anywhere close to the awesomeness of Blue Oyster Cult. However, the cover you posted is terrible.

This is much better cover of don't Don't Fear The Reaper. Covered by Gus from the Scream soundtrack.

One of my favorites as well.

My favorite cover, ever- SRV's cover of Hendrix's 'Little Wing':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAG-kX_IlUw

And I can't find a good copy on youtube, but Coltrane's 'Countdown' sets the standard for 'covers' for me. It's a re-harmonizing of Miles Davis' 'Tune Up' and instead of copying the original Coltrane picked up where Davis left off and did something vastly different yet traceable to the original. I think it's incredibly intriguing.

For my money it doesn't get any better than when Relentless 7 does the following

Queen's "Under Pressure"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxqDsJoXG50

and you gotta stay with this one but after he plays "Why Must You Always Dress in Black" it goes into Jimi's "Red House"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PXke7vF2Uc

I dig Foo and I'm a Brian May fan, but that's one of the most hideous musical atrocities I've come across. Not sure why one would even begin to think about covering that song but I'm even more baffled by how monumentally awful that was.

I don't think they were worried about a pitch perfect cover. It looks like they love the song and just wanted to play and share with the audience. You've gotta give Dave credit for that. He plays exactly what he wants, has a good time with it, plays hard for the fans, and can get some real legends involved when he wants to. Very few musicians on his level deliver what he does. In fact, he's almost the last real rocker in that sense.

Give me a dollar.

+1 For Dave Grohl being one of the best frontmen out there. To me, the Foo Fighters 100x better than Nirvana could have ever been.

I dig this one too, only Mike Patton can really rock a BeeGees song.
One of the most underrated rock vocalists, IMO.

foghat was one of my favorite bands in the 1970's.

they also did the old Waylon Jennings song Ain't Livin Long Like This on the album In The Mood For Something Rude

click on the sample and you will hear that they do a pretty good job.
