We're talking '71 (pre-Wings). It lead to "Band on the Run" in '73, which is one of my all time favorites, with "Jet" and "Helen wheels", etc. All good stuff...

I would have picked a different tune if I was claiming to trump Frampton, but i'll rock out anyway.

LOL...Frampton is tough to top, but Led Zep are gods (don't make me post up Stairway!)

...then again, the following could be considered trump material:

You did not just pull that card. The Nuge is off limits in any discussion of music. Everyone knows that the Nuge automatically trumps all other musicians, people, mammals and entities merely by the mention of His Holy Name.

Riders on the Storm is another nice tune, not my favorite Doors tune, but it's hard for me to get picky when it comes to their work:

As it was their last (studio) album and released early in the 70s, it was a toss up between Riders and LA Woman (which is also good)...both are played so much (especially Riders during rainstorms), and LA Woman has been covered, what, by no less than a dozen artists? (good stuff)

Totally agreed. I'm a much bigger fan of their early work, but threw LA Woman out to conform to the guidlines of the thread. I really do have a hell of a time signling out works of theirs that I hold in higher regard than others.
