When did movies start costing $9.25?

It's been a few months since I've seen a movie in a theater since the wife and I are Netflix addicts. However, I was checking the schedule so we can see Indiana Jones this weekend and saw this crap.

I guess I'm showing my age, but I remember seeing movies for $4.25 and even recently paying $6.50 for a movie. This is why we go to the dollar theater and have a Netflix account.

Screw that. That dedicated media room is sounding more and more like a good idea.

PLUS... I can pause it anytime I feel like it and go get myself a nice cold beer!

Netflix FTW.

Tickets, popcorn, drinks, snocaps, and digital media are all petroleum based products, didn't you know?

We paid that 2 weeks ago to see the Indiana Jones movie. Man, was I surprised. We spent almost $50 for the movie and treats...and it was a shitty movie.

They've priced me right out of the theater. After tickets and popcorn and cokes it's almost fifty bucks. So now I just wait for the DVD.

You think that's expensive, try North Park Mall. It's like $11.00 there. Go to the Irving Mall on weekdays and it's $4.50

It doubles on weekends to $9.00

Took the girls out to see Narnia last friday, spent 40 bucks on the 3 of us, tickets and snacks. I need a hook up on movie passes.

What is that thing?

I stopped going to movies a long time ago unless I get passes and can go for free. I am in Plano and I get tired of being in the middle of the movie and having some dumbass white wanna be gangster idiot answer his cell phone "Yo dawg you won't believe this shit from last night, it was whack!!"

Not to mention the quality of movies has been in a steady decline for a decade now.

It's a set top box that you can get from Netflix that will stream movies to your TV. A lot of the movies on Netlix have the option to drop in your queue or watch instantly on your computer. This is why this so popular because there are about 10,000 movies available for streaming. Not a bad option when you're only paying around $13.99 month. http://www.netflix.com/NetflixReadyD...kce=nrdwiphpra

Ding, ding, ding! That's EXACTLY why I don't go to the movies anymore. There's always some asshole in there that ruins the movie for you. If they aren't kicking your seat and about to get a severe asswhooping, they're talking on their cell phone. If they aren't talking on their cell phone, their texting on their cell phone. If they aren't doing any of the above, they're usually just being loud, inconsiderate assholes talking/yelling at each other.

I remember that and I'm 22.

The movie theater in North Park doesn't even offer student discounts any more. I asked why and they "didn't know, but it's only a dollar anyway" I said right, but if I go to 9 movies (it was $10 there) with the student discount I get one free and she just kind of shrugged it off.

You're not kidding. It was 2.50 for an adult ticket when I was in Jr High.

I went out a couple weeks ago and 2 tickets, 2 cokes and a popcorn ran 37.50.

That's why I go to the dollar show. Tuesday is Date night, 50 cents!

Cinemark at the old Six Flags Mall is the best deal. Its stadium seating and a decent theater. During the day its $3.50 a ticket for new movies.

Don't go at night however because the hood rats go there.

During the day its fine.

I don't pay more than 6.75 for a movie and I don't have to deal with kids or people talking during the movie. Then again, I don't go to an AMC on Friday or Saturday night.

FTW!! I just took my younger brother and sister last weekend and we had a good time. Watching the strangers and having the subs in the back made them jump .

Yeah I agree movie ticket prices are rediculous now! The only movie I'm going to go watch at a theatre any time soon is The Dark Knight at the IMAX.

I took my 3yr old daughter to see a movie today and her ticket was only 25cents more cheaper than mine, lol! Plus she sat in my lap more than half of the time! Prices of everything are getting high but my pay check isn't!

Fuck that. Last movie I saw in the theater was "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" in September 2007 at the AMC Theater in Westgate by the Phoenix Coyotes Arena. Don't remember how much it cost though. I'd rather pay $20-35 for a brand new BluRay movie that I can watch on my own TV with my own 7.2 Harmon Kardon surround sound with my own beer and snacks with the ability to pause, rewind, and rewatch movies at will.
