Cult Classics

what are some movies that are considered "Cult Classics" that you like? Looking for something new to rent at the video store. For me, Kentucky Fried Movie. It is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

Agree with Clockwork Orange, and Stanley Kubrick did an excellent job. But like many other book to film transitions, I think the book slightly trumped the film. Another example that comes to mind is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Excellent job with the movie, but the book trumps the film.

Simply defining a film as a "cult classic" pigeonholes it into the limitations and conventions that the individual defining it as such requires for it to be deserving of the term. That pigeonholing in itself runs counter to the the idea of what makes up a "cult classic" - a film that is made outside of the normal conventions expected of filmmakers and their audience.

Since you consider Donnie Darko to be a cult classic, and obviously have a clue as to what a cult classic is, explain how exactly "some of ya'll" have no clue as to what a cult classic is. In the end, it's just a movie, not some matter of great importance.

So I guess that would include Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, and the Spaghetti Westerns like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; My Name is Nobody; They Call Me Trinity; and They Still Call Me Trinity.

Stop trying to sound smart...That first paragraph is so high winded and bombastic I dont even want to reply. Just because I know you're trying too hard now. Anyone who needs that many words to say something so simple is a fool in my book.

anyways - a cult classic is just a movie that is not initially popular follows different conventions, often portrays different views, etc. Cult classics have a very specific audience so it is not correct to say that it is outside the expectations of that audience.

Not too surprising that you're baffled, duffusdaddy, and all that with very little verbal effort on my part. A "fool in your book" can hardly be considered an insult, albeit a weak one, given your limited attention span makes your book a rather simple read.

holy shit...here we go again. I'm not baffeled at all by the meaning of what you wrote. But by the fact that you feel the need to try so hard to impress someone with such bombastic posts. You dont get the fact that your attempt to sound smart makes you look like a moron in an educated persons book. You are correct, I do have a short attention span...when it comes to BS like this. Why would I want to reading something 100 words long that can be reworded to 20, maybe even 10 words? Even in technical writing they teach you not to construct sentences and paragraphs like the shit you're spewing.

First - Lengthy and bombastic are not the same.

Second - it requires at least that much explanation for someone like you. But then again...apparently it needs more.

Now the true intelligent you comes out. I'm guessing you were too frustrated to run through a thesaurus?

And Godmagnus - considering I have no clue who's got me on ignore and who doesn't, I would hardly say retarded. That's as dumb as me talking noise because you don't know my actual birthday.

Go back to your ignore status, dumb fuck, and hide your head up your ass where it belongs. You haven't a clue of who's posting to who, and it's always refreshing whenever you disappear.

Man, I thought I was the only one that admired/loved movies like "My Name is Nobody" and "The Wraith."

How about Vanishing Point?
And did anyone mention Easy Rider? Or Dirty Harry?
