used guitar

where can i go(website) to find out what a used guitar is worth. do they keep their value. i want to trade my Gibson SG for something else.

Completed items on teh ebay is a great way to tell what they are selling for.

You can also look at the ongoing auctions, but they will not be as good as a indicator of what the final value is;

i looked on there...most are a little more than what i paid new, 3 month ago, even for the used ones.

call a small guitar shop (read: not Guitar Center. Call somewhere like a guitar repair shop run by 50 year old hippies) and ask them, they should be able to tell you.

Just like cars, the trade in value is going to be lower than selling outright. I have a Guitar blue book somewhere around here. Shot me exactly what it is and I will try to help you. I paid $600 last spring for a 90 something model that I picked up for my bosses grandson.

These guys set the official used guitar values. They publish the best of the pricing guides.

Go to their site and click on "appraisal" Send them pictures and information on your guitar and they'll give you an appraisal...
