guita pickups

dont know if this is the right forum but... i have a gibson faded SG, im thinking for replacing the bridge pick up with either a Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader or a Gibson Dirty Fingers. how much does it cost to install at a guitar shop.

They are simple to install. get you a soldering gun, needle nose pliers and follow the directions.

yea, there are some you tube videos on changing your pickups too.

However it shouldn't cost you about 30 bucks (50 tops)

If you're anywhere near Denton, I HIGHLY recommend the guy from this website..

Just email or call him (info on the website) and he'll give you a quote....

it's easy, get you a solder gun, some thin solder and some small heat skrink tubing.
you don't even have to take the stings off most of the time.
there are plenty of wiring diagrams online.. check out seymourduncan.com

i'm about to swap a seymour duncan into one of my bc riches.

funny that your name is EMG..

if you like them hot and dirty.... i took the pickup out of a $100 epiphone les paul from musician's friend. they guitar was free and a piece of shit, but the pickup is fucking awesome. now i love the guitar i put it in. it's phat and nasty.

If you buy the pickup locally, hit that shop up for a free install. Worth a shot. Man, I haven't heard of the Gibson Dirty Fingers since the 70's. Had them on a old 70 something model 335 I use to have. To me, mine werent' that hot, just had a high end grind to them.

A good site to go to for guitar type stuff is Ted Weber dot com. He builds speakers and stuff like that, but their is a forum their with some good info. If you like the sound of the old Dirty Fingers you need to try out a p90 guitar. I even had some p90 type pickups that are strat and tele size that have a good biting grind to them.

Last time I asked him, he said his guitars normally go for something like $10K.

However he is also an authorized Burns dealer (the preferred guitars of Bryan Mays)

He can also make replicas..

I would never buy one of his guitars, just way out there on price, but he is a damn good technician. He doesn't eyeball shit like a lot of guys do. He gets very precise measurements and will have them written down for you if you ever need a tune up with another tech. Also, he is a bit of a perfectionist IMO. He managed to get a perfect intonation out of a fuckin Squire Bullet.

He's also really good for guitar lessons. He charges $25 a lesson but will cut it to $20 if you pre-pay for 4 lessons. He is an EXTREMELY patient teacher and will teach all age levels and any skill level... I had to stop lessons because my work schedule but I'm going back in February after when things are supposed to calm down a bit...
