That's what I'm saying about this guy above me about Joey Jordison. It doesn't take much skill to use a double bass drum over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

He's good, but an all-time great? No.

Some of the guys I listed might not be considered an all-time great either, but yeah, Ringo Starr. He might not be much of an improvisor, but you gotta admit, he has some great fills and knew how to keep a great beat!

I think it's really hard to pick a (10) best because there are so many bad ass drummers out there. These are who come to my mind.

1.) Nicko Mcbrain-Iron Maiden
2.) Gene Hogland-Death, Strapping Young Lad
3.) Neil Peart-Rush
4.) Mickey Dee-King Diamond, Motorhead
5.) Flo-Cryptopsy
6.) Mike Smith-Suffocation
7.) Charlie Benante-Anthrax
8.) Tommy Aldrige-ex OZZY
9.) Derrick Roddey-Hate Eternal, Nile
10.) Mike Portnoy-Dream Theater

I don't think that woman has ever heard of click-tracks. I swear, even their studio shit is off beat half the time.

Rock drummers, buddy, not jazz. There's a few jazz drummers out there who can whip the shit out of anybody else in this thread, but this is rock drumming.

I guess I should have put Stanton Moore on there as he's a badass jazz drummer, but did studio drumming on Corrosion of Conformity's last album, which, by the way, made COC sound the best that they've ever sounded before, in my opinion.

Deen is NOT just average. Don't be ignorant. I have been playing drums for over 25 years. Believe me, he is INCREDIBLE. And yes, Mr. Peart is excellent too...no competition for Deen Castronovo though.

From more than 15 years ago.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but he seems to play a lot like Peter Chris. Just better. But not by much.
