They both have their strengths.

Les Stroud is really good with different ways to make fire and shelters.

Bear is really good with navigational skills and bearings.

Hell no....Just because someone is there, doesn't make those -30 degree nights sleeping under a wet tree any less spectacular I like man vs wild...I just don't get why he always has to jump in the freezing water to show he can get out. We know by now you can....now you can chill on the ice swimming

Yes. Homeboy doesn't have to hike down the mountain, set up his camera, and then hike back up to get the shot.

There is a huge difference between being completely alone, and having a camera crew with you-psycologically and physically, not to mention shooting scenes that are interesting to watch.

I just wish there were more episodes of Survivorman. I have seen all 5 or 6 at least 3 times each. Has anyone seen more episodes?

Desert-bike
Airplane crash
Ocean-Island
Canyon-motorcycle
Swamp
Glacier
Rainforest?

That's all that comes to mind.

I'm on both sides of the fence.

Survivorman- Because he does do all of his shit alone, and I think's that's pretty cool.

Man vs Wild- Because when you squeeze water froman elephan turd and drink it?
It doesn't get any weirder than that, and I look forward to shit like that every week

Man vs. Wild

Did ya'll see the newest Man v. Wild in Australia when Homeboy got real thirsty and drank his own piss?

I thought when he ate that fresh-kill raw Zebra carcass in Africa that he couldn't do ANYTHING worse.

Who can really say they would drink their own piss? There is no F**** way. That's retarded; I had to change the channel (briefly).

He didn't drink it. He pee'd in a towel and wrapped it around his face and head to keep cool in the mid-day sun.

Na, it may not of been in australia, but he did pee in his canteen and drink out of it. Said it was salty.

I did not want to comment on this thread until I watched them both. I'll have to side with survivorman.

Dude in MvW does shit that even people in excellent physical condition can't do. Every f'ing episode he climbs some crazy stuff that normal people won't do. WTF, just cause you're a bad ass skier lost in the mountains - does not mean you can climb up/down a 100' foot cliff.

I also don't agree with EVERYTHING he says.

Survivor man, well a little more realistic for the average joe IMO. Common sense and easier to implement tips/tricks...that's what I look for.

They are both pretty good. The best show like that I have seen is I shouldn't be alive episode Escape the Amazon! Myke Hawke made being in the Amazon look easy.

Survivorman is FAR better. The guy is completely alone and does not have someone there to help if he falls and breaks something or gets a hand bitten off. Bear just eats and drinks some nasty stuff and then is surprised when he gets sick.

Man vs Wild is good tv because of the shock value. Survivorman is good because he shows you actually how to survive and how to cope with being alone.

While he was drinking his own piss I was thinking that it would dehydrate you even more because of the sodium?? ??

Yeah thats what I thought. I have always heard that drinking urine is very bad because of the dehydration it causes and the toxins in it. WTF?

suvivorman gets my vote. He is alone wich makes it harder to shoot the scenes not to mention he has to haul all that crap with him. Also that Bear guy is only out in the wilderness for a few days at most. Les is there for a full week. But i do enjoy watching that crazy brit.

I drink it on a daily basis, saves money on water bills not having to flush.

bear has his merits, but just think about being alone, for a week, in the middle of nowhere.
day and night. by yourself.
